All week, we’re seeing it on the faces of adults. People seem extra focused and extra serious. The first week in September might just be baked into our brains from our school days. This week just demands, “Get to work!”Here in the Northern Virginia/Washington DC/Baltimore region some trees are showing color change. We’re starting the day in the 50° range. The look and feel of things says, “Autumn!”So, if you’re in a “Back to School” mode, even if you don’t have kids and have not been in a scholastic classroom for decades, that’s okay. In fact, it’s probably a good thing. It’s one of those mileposts on our mental calendars which makes us productive. (Just don’t stress. Instead, share a smile.)

I apologize if this offends anyone.  That's not my intent.  Without getting political here, I wonder when art stops being regarded as art?   Who should make that decision?Stone Mountain Monument in Georgia is the largest high relief sculpture in the world.  It took 3 lead sculptors 20 years to complete the project.  The first sculptor was Gutzon Borglum who later left the project and went on to carve Mount Rushmore in South Dakota.This Memorial Carving, depicts three Confederates:  Jefferson Davis, Robert E. Lee and "Stonewall" Jackson.  The entire carved surface measures three-acres, towers 400 feet above the ground, measures 90 by 190 feet, and is recessed 42 feet into the mountain. Is this art?  Do you think this  carving  should be permanently erased or preserved for future generations?Nancy

Because OMG! Adobe MAX—The Creativity Conference. I also noticed that Pete Souza, former White House photographer will have a session. I think I have to miss it, though, because of a schedule conflict.I'm really excited to see who will play at the MAX Bash. I wonder if Adobe could get Imagine Dragons since they had the Adobe - Make the Cut video editing competition this spring. As a developer with many Flash based software, does Adobe know WHEN Chrome and Firefox will completely stop supporting Flash on their browsers? We've had many of our clients complain of the recent disabling of Flash on these 2 browsers and we easily had them reenable the plugin, but we are trying to plan for when these 2 browser vendors will completely block Flash. We've tried contacting Google Chrome and Firefox support but have not had any response from them as of yet.Any information would be helpful.Thank you,

Before I started this thread, and was playing with this in my head, I just wasn't getting anywhere, but after making the graphic below (specifically for this thread) and measuring the liquid content to each of the three level marks, I think I have worked it out, but I might as well run it by some of you young folk with still function brains. The graphic represents the reservoir from my Bex Bissell carpet stain cleaning machine.  The chemicals are fairly costly, but it is known that what they call the Oxidising Boost agent, is 5% dilution of Hydrogen Peroxide, and you can get it for a tiny fraction of the cost from the likes of eBay.  Except they only provide it in 3% dilution.  So I need to work out where to put the new mark.It uses 220cc of the H2O2, which I worked out to be 11cc of pure H2O2.Together with the 700cc of water, that's 11cc in 920cc , and I need to achieve that with my 3% dilution H2O2.I think it is actually really straight forward, but I would like to hea

Hi all,I'm working an a second video essay for my philosophy of film course.  I ripped the blu-ray of "Boogie Nights" for it using the program CloneBD.  The film has three English language audio tracks that I ripped: the film's main audio and two separate commentaries.  I'd like to use some audio from the commentary track by the film's director, PT Anderson.  Unfortunately, when I import it, it has only two audio tracks.  The first one is the film's main audio, and the second one is both audio commentaries overlaid on one another.  Does anyone know if there's a way to import it with three audio tracks?  Is there a way to separate the two combined commentary tracks?  Any other ideas?

I would think I have enough years using Adobe products that I would be speaking at Adobe Conferences by now. I wonder where I went wrong?I must admit, I get a little bit of envy when I see all the Adobe leaders giving their talks about the great apps Adobe offers us.Given my age (I'm middle aged), and that I now work for a government agency, I wonder if I can ever become one of those Adobe speakers.

I can use Bayphoto for a 30x10 and cut but it would be simpler if this size were available somewhere.

I would love some input here... I need to get a new Laptop and am a casual user of Photoshop, Illustrator, and others.  I have my eye on the latest Microsoft Surface Book.. I am attracted to it because the pen functionality seems almost as good as an external drawing tablet (if not better?).  I also love the detachable screen which can be used as a tablet.   However, the price seems a bit much compared to HP or others that seem to have similar specs.I am a bit confused on if non-Microsoft laptops that are say "Made for Microsoft Ink" (where you purchase a Bamboo Pen separately) provide the same functionality within Adobe apps that the Microsoft Surface Boo (comes with its own pen) provides.   Can anyone comment to help me determine if I should go with the Microsoft Surface Book?I need to stay with Windows for compatibility reasons; Mac is not an option.Many thanks in advance!

Are phone cameras, with all their limitations, helping the “big 3” sell more cameras, overall?Digital Single Lens Reflex (dSLR) camera and lens revenues are looking very good for Nikon. But, why are their imaging equipment sales trending downward?The most recent quarterly report from Nikon shows their dSLR camera sales up 10% with a 50% increase in lens sales.  The downward trend is in those little point and shoot cameras. So, yes, the smartphones have invaded some portion of the camera manufacturing marketplace. But, if dSLR sales are trending upward, there’s an apparent renewed interest in great photography.
