What About Moderators in the New Forum?

And that is the atmosphere I would prefer.

As a stark contrast to that, the very first time I became aware of the existence of such a title was when this Murray character burst onto the scene here, totally outside the framework of any of his ascribed areas of expertise, not only using the pretentious title, but also soiling the forums with the annoying autoquote function of his newsreader program.

Well I have no respect for the ACE program which I still consider to have been a sop by Adobe to the MM people following the take-over (and the fact that the scheme didn't start until 2007 strongly supports my assumption!).

And I now have even less respect, and even an increasing contempt and DISLIKE, for all ACEs as a result of the rabid screams of protest by the one's who have come into this thread to protect their pathetic little "Hall Monitor's badges.

The things that Stanley Jones mentions ("Adobe Community Expert" labels, coding for whether a question has been answered, a count of how many answers a poster has to their credit) have never been part of the Adobe Forums.

They have only been part of the formerly Macromedia Forums and seem to be viewed with anathema by virtually everyone who uses the Adobe Forums

Ann, let me tell you something interesting which will prove your "viewed with anathema by virtually everyone who uses the Adobe Forums" generalization wrong.

My main Community Expert work is actually not related Dreamweaver itself, it´s related to a subsidiary product named "Dreamweaver Developer Toolbox" (ADDT) which has its separate set of forums established since early 2007.

Now guess what:

a) the ADDT forums *are* running on the current adobeforums system

b) I have always signed my posts over there using the Community Expert badge

c) not a single ADDT forums participant has *ever* taken any offence at me signing with this badge. However I´m absolutely sure they indeed would if what I wrote were crap, but then again this would also occur on the current Macromedia forums.

You get nominated if they think you're suitable material - and that means more than just knowing the software very well.

so are Community Experts PAID by adobe? or do you pay adobe for the designation? or are you just chosen normal users? chosen by whom? is it like a little clique? is it like high school where the cool kids and their friends get in?

the top image is 72ppi, the bottom is 300. they are both the same exact size and the same exact pixel dimension. on the web, ALL THAT MATTERS is pixel dimension. ppi (NOT dpi) is simply a piece of META-data that tells a printer what to do with your image. it is MEANINGLESS on the web. it does NOT increase file size (check the properties of the top and bottom images in my link).

for posting on the web ANY ppi is wasted bandwidth. 10000ppi 800x600 image will display exactly the same as a 1ppi 800x600 image and will be exactly the same size! try it yourself if you don't believe me but stop spreading misinformation on the subject!
