Hi,Using RH 2017, I am trying to add a web link in the TOC (top level) as a relative link. I am generating Responsive output using Charcoal Grey layout. If I add a new TOC page with just the relative link (i.e. ../../blahblah.htm) the link becomes corrupted on generation, and RH changes it to ..\\..\\blahblah.htmIs there a way to prevent RH from altering the link?Experiments I have tried:Enter the link as Link to Web Address http://../../blahblah.htm, then remove the http:// from the url and generate. This makes no difference.Enter the link as above (without removing the http://) and generate. Then go to the whxdata folder in the output and edit the toc.new.js file to remove the http:// from the url. This works.Unfortunately, these are projects that are updated frequently, so the second option does not present a realistic work-around for us.Anyone got any other ideas on how to "protect" these links? Maybe modifying the .js file that generates the TOC so they'll be left unchanged on output
Hello,In RH 2017, we have 4 layouts that are shipped as part of the product - Azure Blue, Charcoal Grey, Indigo, and Ocean. Are there any additional layouts available anywhere/downloadable?How easy/complex is it to customize Indigo and Ocean layouts? Our requirement is to go frameless but customization should be easy for the documentation folks to do.Any Dos and Don'ts/best practices/known issues when customizing layouts?
I read this RoboHelp screen profiles and layouts and downloaded the Ocean.zip file. How do I import it in RH 2017?Also, when they say Starting with Update 2 of RoboHelp, the Ocean layout has been deprecated from the product. does that mean it is not yet supported or any known issues with it for which it is not recommended?
Using: RoboHelp 2019, Update 1I am having trouble working with the Pop-up Hyperlinks. Maybe these should be in different posts, but I'll list them here to start since I think they are all related:In previous versions you could double-click existing links to open the edit box. This does not appear to be working in RH2019. Nothing happens.I don't even see an option to select hyperlinks as pop-ups. In previous versions, the hyperlink edit box had options about how a link would open: in frame (with further options), or custom and auto pop-ups. Are these options still available? When looking at the code, it appears the html has changed for the pop-ups when I upgraded the project to 2019, but I don't really see how to edit them in the WYSIWYG.<a href="javascript:BSSCPopup('Right-Click_Menu/Copy.htm');" id="a1">Copy</a><a data-rhwidget="HyperlinkPopover" href="Right-Click_Menu/Copy.htm" id="a1">Copy</a>Lastly, the new output has my auto-siz
Hi!I want to add a Search bar to the Welcome page topic of my project. It would function just like the Search feature in the navigation but be in the actual topic page. Is this possible? I assume there's some coding involved to accomplish this but want to know if it's even possible before asking my developer for help. I'm using RoboHelp 2017 and a Responsive HTML5 output. Thanks!
Does anyone know if the Boolean (AND, OR, NOT) search functionality can be enabled using the RH 2017 HTML5 Output? If there is a fix to enable the Boolean search using the HMTL5 Output, can you please share instructions on how it's done? Thank you!
Hi, I've been using RH for a couple years now and I'm trapped in a situation I've previously randomly seen (but always seem to get out of, somehow). The situation is that after importing a Word (2017) document the topic filenames include an ending "-" (hypen) as the last character of the file's basename (e.g., 1_Introduction-.htm - I need this to be 1_Introduction.htm). I've seen this occur randomly in the past and I know there must be some way to control this, but I can't seem to find it. My conversion is very straightforward (pagination on Heading 1/2) and the topic pattern is using $paratext (in angle brackets)).Any ideas how I can control/fix this?Thanks,-David
I need RHCL to work in order to do regular batch file builds of our help projects without having to open the UI and build from the UI. The RHCL building seems to work and the output ends up in the proper directory. However, when I view index.htm from the generated output location in my browser, I see this:At the top of the index.htm pageAt the bottom of the index.htm pageWeird that the topic appars in that little container at the bottom of the page, huh? Anyway, this makes me think the script that makes everything work is missing or doesn't work from an RHCL build. The problem appears to just be with index.htm.If I then access just a topic by itself (outside of full context), meaning without using index.htm, it displays fine:And here's what index.htm should look like (This is what I get when I generate by hand directly inside of RH):Ideas?
Hello, I've recently had an issue where my PDF generates and is cut off about 1/3 of the way through. The html is still generating without a problem. Some errors I'm getting are:Warning: The Word Document became corrupt when attempting to append following malformed topics:This is the first error I get and the first page it lists is also the first that is not appearing in the PDF. Som other unique ones are:Warning: The Word Document became corrupt when attempting to append a malformed topic: 'Meters_Spectrum.htm'Missing topic '!SSL!\Printed_Documentation\!doc_tmp_folder_2\'.Failed to process 'Meter Options'...Fatal Error: Word Document got corrupt. Abort building 'Options'.Failed to build 'Options'...Failed to build 'Options'...I've tried the Style Mapping trick. Linking Images. And generating individual documents. All with no luck. I could go back to a backed up version that was working and try again and hope it doesn't happen again. The
Hi guys,I'm assuming it's possible, but I haven't had any luck.I'm trying to use the linked Word document feature. The Word document has bookmarks inserted.Should the bookmarks be included in the html files created by Robohelp? At the moment I'm not getting any bookmarks and I can't see any settings related to including or excluding them. Are there any tricks I need to be aware of?RH11Word 2013Multiscreen HTML5
Hi, I recently migrated to RoboHelp 2019 Classic and I published a clean project with the Indigo layout, made a new TOC simple topics and I made no changes to the layout whatsoever. The problem occurred when I published a clean project to RoboHelp Server 10. See below images for a sample: As you can see no TOC is displayed upon loading and there seems to be an error when I looked in the console log of google chrome. There's no problem when opening the project in my local machine. Is RoboHelp 2019 not compatible with RoboHelp Server 10? Or is there some steps that I might have missed when publishing in RoboHelp Server 10?Thanks,Renz
My colleague thinks a 2+ minute compile time is too long, which prompted the question of this item. Here are some details:size of project: 27MBsize of project on disk: 28MB693 files33 folders. So, is our compile time reasonable, or could it go faster?thank you,Lon
In the HTML Files (Topics) rather than just in my TOC. (I've had a rough morning, lol) Any way, now I have a long list of broken links. Is there any quick way to fix this? Or, do I need to just fix each one individually? Thanks,MDawn
What is the standard review process you follow? We have HTML 5 output. We are using RH-17The process we follow:We author in RH and then generate PDF and send for review. We incorporate changes in the RH and again generate PDF for review and validation.RoboHelp Server is expensive for us.We want to get rid of this. Any option available?
Hi there, I have already searched for that topic but could not find any answer...We have always used a chm help for our software. Now that times are changing we want to switch to a responsive html5 online help. So, I have created an online help in RH11 using the "Responsive HTML5" layout. So far, so good. Now, when I am in our software and want to open the online help on a specific topic it will always without any exception open the standard topic that I have defined... My colleague had a look at it, too, and said that there is some kind of automatic forwarding in the file and it should work if I would deactivate this forwarding. But: How do I do that? Can anyone help? Thank you
We want to change the output look and feel according to our brand. How we can do effectively? We are using RH-2017
Does anyone have a demo or some screenshots of what responsive help looks/acts like in SharePoint? Specifically RH2017 or greater with SharePoint 2016 or greater? I don't have a test environment that I can set all of this up in, and we're considering SharePoint over RH Server (for various reasons, not the least being that we can use the SharePoint and SQL Server licenses for other things besides just RH). I'd still like to see what it actually looks like and hear about how context sensitive help works in SharePoint Published environments! Thanks in advance!Tia
I upgraded from 2015 to 2019 (purchased). My file worked fine until I ran the WebHelp Output. Now there are HUGE issues:All 2015 images were .gif, 2019 now uses .png. In output the .gif images do not show.I opened the project to look into this and now any topics that were nestled in a folder inside the Project Manager are gone. In other words, I can no longer open the folders in the Project Manager to view or edit those Topics.
Has anyone tried to work with merged projects in RH 2019? I am running into some weird issues and I can't get merged help to work regardless of the way I try it.I tested the following.Creating merged project (a parent with one child) in RH 2019 Classic - OK. Opening index.htm from the parent displays the TOC of the parent and child modules and all their topics.Creating merged project in RH 2019 - NOK, the TOC only shows the current project. If you open index.htm from the parent, you only see the parent topics; if you open index.htm from the child, you only see the child topics. If you open the child project and click a topic different from the default one, the TOC of the parent is automatically loaded and replaces the TOC of the child. This happens when the URL changes from file:///C:/master_new_resp/mergedProjects/child/index.htm#t=First_Merged_Topic.htm to file:///C:/master_new_resp/index.htm#t=mergedProjects%2Fchild%2FSecond%20Merged%20Topic.htm. Other than that, you can navigate wi
Can we add footnotes in RH 2017?We have a lot of tables in the content and there is some information we would want to mark as a footnote and mention it below the table. Is it possible to add a footnote?
RoboHelp 2017 (13.0.2.334)Windows 10, 64-bit (version 1709)Our app uses C# with XAML. We want to display the Responsive HTML5 layout in an embedded window inside our application. This will eventually allow us to show our help side by side within our app, pin or collapse the help window to the side, etc.We have created a container window in our app to do this. But we are running into some problems with the WebControl that MS provides. Some problems we're experiencing:- Problem 1) Some topics don't appear at all.- Problem 2) Search doesn't work (already mentioned in this thread and might be a RH issue).- Problem 3) In topics with drop-down contents, our twisty link that appears at the top of those topics don't expand drop downs. (But manually clicking on individual drop downs still works.)Has anyone done anything similar with an embedded window in their app that displays their responsive HTML5 help content? Is there a better WebControl we should use?
How to allocate more RAM for pdf generation?I noticed that only 17 % of CPU is utilized during PDF generation hence it takes more time to generate a document. I need to generate a single document as a requirement for a product which is large (nearly 350 MB). Is there a way to speed up this PDF Generation?I also noticed a message ïn output view as below which has RAM 2048 M Bytes, I am not sure how this value is set"Printed Document Generator Environment: Word 16.0.10730, OS 6.2.9200, RAM 2048 M Bytes"
Hi Wise RoboHelp Folks! We are having an issue with help files produced by Robohelp 2017 v13.0.2. We are using a WebHelp output and Robohelp’s loadprojdata.js script contains the following line: window.gProjDataFile = "{{MSM_PROJ_DATA.PROJ_DATA_FILENAME}}";This appears to be a templated value which should be replaced with actual values, but that is never happening. Eventually that makes its way to these lines: var projDataFile = rootRelPath + "/" + gProjDataFile;xmlJsReader.loadFile(projDataFile, callbackProjDataLoaded, projDataCBObj); An attempt is made to access a file with the literal name "{{MSM_PROJ_DATA.PROJ_DATA_FILENAME}}", which fails and produces an error in our website’s log file. Could we delete this file safely without impacting anything?Thank you for any help!
Hi there,I want to add custom JS code that is executed each time the user selects a filter in the filter pane (RH 2015, HTML5 output). Unfortunately, most of the code dealing with the filter pane is minified (common.min.js and rh.min.js). Has anyone tried this before? Is there a suitable "entry point" to add custom event code for this? (Tried OnPageClick in ehlpdhtm.js, but that doesn't seem to work since the event.target doesn't change after the first click event for the filter pane is fired).
I am developing what we call workflow-based help and, so far, I have 12 workflow topics created.I have created seven browse sequences, and (so far) one help topic is in 2 of the browse sequences. Here are the specifics:"Creating" topic goes to "Opening" topic in the Configure browse sequence."Creating" topic is supposed to go to "3D View" topic in the Select browse sequence. However, in both cases, the "Creating" topic goes to the "Opening" topic. At this time the workflows are not the same, and I would like the browse sequences to be treated as different. Is there any way to make this happen, or is the logic simply not there to distinguish between two browse sequences?Thank you!Cindy
