In RH 2015 Help output, when I type a word that occurs both in topics and "non-topics" into the Search field, the search returns results for the "non-topics" as well as the topics. For example, if I type "DGMC" into the Search field, the search lists topics that have this acronym, as expected. But it also lists "Home > DGMC Help," which is not a topic: it's the title of the Help. A couple of the results also display the message "Your browser does not support JavaScript," etc. The browser does support Javascript and overall the Help works fine. (screenshot 1)When you click one of the "DGMC Help" results, you get a blank topic with "DGMC" highlighted in the browse sequence, Or you get a blank topic showing the Contents, Search, and Glossary buttons. (screenshots 2 and 3)If you type "DGMC Help" (not just "DGMC") into the Search field, you get the original blank or weird "DGMC Help" entries, but you also get a couple of "WebHelp Navigation Toolbar" and "WebHelp Navigation Mini-bar" entr
Where would I find a sample RoboHelp project that, in addition to HTML files, also has a Framemaker file that contains content?
A colleague created manual index entries in RH 11 WebHelp. The output displays as desired on Chrome (latest version), but there are issues with the Index. Even if we enter non-dictionary random words (say cdcdscd) the output still displays a pop-up of matching topics (see below). This and other random words are not even in any of the topics, still why is RH displaying results for them when searched using the Index? Appreciate assistance.
I am trying to create consistent links to a given page in Webhelp, so that I can reference the content via URL. So for example, this page's URLwould be different from this page's URL.Is this possible using Robohelp? Thanks!
Hello,I have created a Webhelp output. It has numerous books, and when I open books one by one, the TOC tree remains expanded and looks too crowded. It would look much better if the open book closed automatically when I open another book.I was exploring the files in output folder, and I came across this file -whnvt30.html - in folder WebHelp\whgdata\. Opening this file loads the TOC in a browser. On clicking the books in TOC, they expand and collapse exactly the way I want it to be in output. This behavior is somehow controlled in output. Can anybody throw some light on this?Roy
The Table of Contents does not display in merged published WebHelp output. I am using RoboHelp 10 on Windows 7. I tried it in both Firefox and IE.I downloaded Peter Grainge's sample demo in his excellent article on Merging Help in WebHelp (http://www.grainge.org/pages/authoring/merging_webhelp/merging_method_rh9.htm#calling ). Even in his demo, the TOC only showed up once or twice. Most times when I publish the files, the TOC does not show. I am publishing it on my local drive. I have spent many hours re-reading the article, checking my files, creating a sample of my own, and looking at the forums. I have not found a solution.I tried publishing the child projects first, then the parent and vice versa. Neither way displayed the TOC. Does the order make a difference?I checked the "Add Mark of the Web" option in the Navigation pane of the Webhelp Settings window.I chose the "Local PC or Intranet (Internal Network") option in the Navigation p
Hello all,I noticed that WebHelp has an option to convert filenames to lowercase when generating output. Does anyone know if it's possible to do this for Responsive Help (HTML5)? Apparently, our mixed-case filenames are causing problems on a Tomcat server.I'm on running RoboHelp 2015 (12.0.3.428) on Windows 7, and using imported FrameMaker source files. Thanks,Kate
I'm producing a help in Responsive HTML5, and I was wondering if the search facility can return page results as users type, instead of having to press 'Enter' or click the magnifying glass icon....or perhaps that's a really bad idea. Would that cause a lot of 'processing overhead' on the site because of the multitude of calls i.e. a call for every letter typed?
I have a collection of over 100 projects in RoboHelp 2015. I estimate those projects would have around 25000 to 30000 entries that can be converted to variables. As quite a few of them would be common across the projects, would it be possible to create a repository of these variables in Resource Manager and selectively use them the way snippets can be used by moving them in Resource Manager and syncing up in projects?
Good MorningI can edit my screen layout to include a logo at the top left of the header on my HTML5 responsive output, but this logo looks small and i would like to change the size of the logo.Is this possible, maybe through amending the HTML code or the layout.css file?I am not sure how to start.
HiI published a Responsive HTML output from RH2015 and RH11 and converted both to an Android app using PhoneGap Build. When I install on Android 4.x devices, only the one published from RH11 works. Topics from RH2015 output displays the content for a second and show white screen after that.I compared the Index.html of both outputs and I found only one addition to the RH2015 version. <script type="text/javascript" src="whxdata/whtagdata.js"></script>Is this the culprit that is causing my RH2015 output to fail? Or is there something else?Note:I have the latest version of both RH11 and RH2015.I am publishing the same project in both versions without any change whatsoever.
Recently we purchased RoboHelp 2015. After generating WebHelp, when trying to view in IE browser, for some topics we are getting webpage error as you can see in the image above. Please help me to resolve this issue. Thanks,Shekhar
Is there a way to move projects from RoboHelp7 to RoboHelp11 all at once rather than individually?
I'm currently using RoboHelp11. In my RoboHelp document, I created and used my own formatted paragraph styles for header, subheader, etc. For example, the default format is Heading 1. I created my own paragraph header style and called it TopHeader with defined fonts, font size, indents, etc. When I generated the Word document, the TOC only showed the ones that defined as RoboHelp Book or from the default paragraph styles.I hope I don't have to go back and change everything to default paragraph styles. Can anybody help please? Thanks in advance.
Using RH 2015. I have a project that I generate as multiscreen HTML 5 using the default layout (at least I think it's the default -- dark green & gold). All was well for several iterations, but I've somehow managed to lose the layout. When I generate the multiscreen HTML 5 layout, I get some of those nasty little boxed "X" icons and it looks like its using the WebHelp layout of its parent project.I assume I've inadvertently assigned it a different layout or deleted something or its maybe inheriting the layout of it's parent.Help much appreciated -- thanks!
Hello,Am using RH10. I wanted to check if there is any way to make the TOC pane in the Webhelp collapsible/expandable? In the Webhelp output that I generate, the TOC pane is static, we can only resize the width. However, is there any option to collpase/minimize the TOC pane? And then expand it when needed. Many thanks....
I am using RoboHelp 2015. I am looking for a script that can change the topic status from "In Progress" to "Ready for Review" if a change was made to the topic. My thinking is to turn Track Changes on when I edit the topic then the script could search for rh-track_start. Someone may have done this already or know of a better way to do it. I am not a programmer but am willing to learn if someone can point me in the right direction.
Hi all:I am an experienced (but not expert) RH user and am converting a merged webhelp project to HTML5. It is written in RH11 and compiled locally. The problems occur when it is called from the product:Stack Overflow at line xx. THis error is displayed randomly when clicking on books or pages in the TOC. THe line number varies. The message is displayed inconsistently: it does not always occur when I click on the same book or page.Script error. The URL in the message is the location of the help files on the product server. THis message also varies - two examples are attached.Does anybody have any ideas about the cause of these errors? The developers and I are baffled. This is the first time we have used HTML5 for documentation so we might be overlooking a simple problem. Thanks in advance for any help.Juliette Curtis
I'm using RoboHelp 11.0.4.291 and have a project open on a Windows 10 computer. This is the first time I've opened the project on Windows 10 and right now I'm not able to work on the project for 2 reasons.1) Double clicking on Topics will does not open the Design/HTML editor. Right clicking and selecting edit topic also does nothing. However, if I click Preview topic I can view it. This doesn't allow me to edit topics at all though. 1) The style and formatting pod is greyed out in the View >> Pods menu so I can't open it. The project is not read only so I'm not sure what the probelm is.Help would be much appreciated. Thanks!
I am using RH12 (RoboHelp 2015). My project was translated into Portuguese-Brazil, Spanish-Spain, and French-Canada. In Project Manager, when I edit the index file (right-click the index file and then click Edit) the Index pod looks like this:When I view the index file (right-click the index file and then click View), Notepad looks like this:The English version of the HHK file will populate the Index pod in the localized project. I suspect the problem lies with the special characters in the localized HHK file. Strange though that the localized HHC file works. Any help is appreciated.
Using RH 15....When using multiple languages, our filenames are in Englishwith a language code appended (ie: What’s New?_en-US, What’s New?_pt-BR, What’sNew?_es-419). I have run into an issue when using the Search tab, the Topics toDisplay pane displays the file name (English) and not the topic name which isin the correct language. Is there a way to have RH use the topic name insteadof the file name when displaying the Search tab results? The correct topic inthe correct language does come up in the display window. It just uses thefilename which is in English to select from and not useful to the customer whodoes not speak English. I need a way to easily identify the topics with thesame information in them but different languages as the topics need updating... and I am not bi-lingual….Suggestions?
After running a security scan of the product, the application developers reported DOM cross-scripting errors resulting from the online help. This is what the scan turned up:DOM XSS Issue in the following files:• Whstart.js -> document.location=document.location;• whtbar.js -> top.location = strURL;• whtopic.js -> window.location = strUrl• whtopic_nc.js -> window.location = strMainPage.substring(0, indx+1) + "whcsh_home.htm#topicurl=" + strMainPage.substring(indx+1);And also an open redirect issue in the following file:whtbar.js -> top.location = strURL;I am generating WebHelp using RoboHelp 2015 (version 12.0.2.384). I was under the impression that the cross-site scripting errors existed in earlier versions of RoboHelp (8 and 9) and had been corrected in subsequent releases. My search of the RoboHelp forums did turn up a more recent post about similar issues with Responsive HTML 5 output, but that's not the output format I'm using.Has anyone else recently experienced the
Hello! I am assigning new .CHM files to existing merged projects. You may recognize this picture:When I go to assign a (in my case) an existing merged project a new .CHM file, I am presented with this dialog. However, I do not want the .CHM file to be copied in, I want it to reference a .CHM file. This is because I am working on a help project that compiles many other help projects that get changed separately from time to time. This leaves the compilation project out of date if the .CHM files are simply copied in; they're just older copies. Is there a way to have a merged project point to a .CHM file rather than copy it in so that it reflects outside changes made to the .CHM file? Thanks!
I checked the RH 2015 online Help but didn't see the confirmation that I was looking for about User Defined Variables (UDV).What I wanted to confirm is that the SystemName_Cardiac_Monitoring_System UDV and its value displaying in bold below means that it is a different value than in the default UDVS. I think that's what it means because I created a second User Defined Variable set and set the UDV named "SystemName_Cardiac_Monitoring_System" to "Xcelera" in the "Demo" UDVS (User Defined Variable Set) whereas the value in the "default" UDVS is "Phillips." Can anyone confirm that's why the value is bold?
RH2015 | WebHelp | WebHelp ProI have several modified files that I apply to my WebHelp outputs after I compile. I use these to customise the look and feel. However, when I apply these files to a WebHelp Pro output and publish to RoboServer, the modifications are not applied. The output looks fine when I run it locally, but not when I view the project from the server. Why is RoboServer ignoring these updated files? Is there a way around this?Any advice would be much appreciated.ThanksJonathan
