Hey there, I have arrays being created my movie. Some with one numeric value, some with many. Is there a way to just check if a value is in an array? Not where in the array, just, "Hey, Array1, is there a number 12 in you? No. Hey, Array2, is there a number 12 in you? No. Hey, Array3, is there a number 12 in you? Yes? Return Array3." Thanks gang, -Benjamin

<cfset ydate = DateFormat(Now(), "mm/dd/yyyy")> How do i access the day value of ydate????

Hi, Whenever I preview a topic, or generate and view it, an _ or a - (not sure which) appears at the top left of the topic, just under the header area. If I enter down and leave a few lines when I am formatting, extra _'s appear. Its bugging me cause it is not visible when I am actually working on the topic, but its in every single one when I preview or generate. Anybody know what is causing it? Thanks!

OS: RHEL 4 Apache: 2.0.52 Coldfusion: 7.0.1 I have done a TON of research on this problem trying to fix it PRIOR to posting here.. Here is the problem, when I start apache, I get this: Starting httpd: Syntax error on line 907 of /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf: Cannot load /opt/coldfusionmx7/runtime/lib/wsconfig/1/mod_jrun20.so into server: /opt/coldfusionmx7/runtime/lib/wsconfig/1/mod_jrun20.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory [FAILED] Now, here is what I have done so far: I have commented out the LD_ASSUME lines in the coldfusion start script I have chcon'd the mod_jrun20.so file to reference the httpd file I have turned off the SELinux stuff by setting SELinux=disabled in the /etc/selinux/config file I have checked to make sure that /opt/coldfusionmx7/runtime/lib/wsconfig/1/mod_jrun20.so does indeed exist At this point I am at a loss. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If any more details are needed just ask. Coldfusion seems to start just fine.

The overview: I have a movie with a text input that pulls a name from an array and associates a logo ID with it. After the user selects a name, they hit a button which loads the logo image into an empty movie clip. I'm trying to figure out the best way to set up the movie that shows the logo . I have about 50 logos that need to be associated with a name and I don't know how to call the exact logo from flash based on the ID I have in the array. I was thinking of creating one .swf with 50 frames and on each frame have an action that creates an empty movie clip and attaches a movie from the library (one of 50 movie clips with one logo per movie clip). Can I then use the Linkage property to manually associate an ID with the logos? I still don't know the actions necessary to put on the button that would make the appropriate logo ID appear. Arrgg. I know there is a better way but i'm just not seeing it. Any suggestions?

I am linking to an external "Mapping Site" and what that link to create a new page that does not overlay the existing Page that linked to the external site. Currently the Page linked too replaces the data on the existing Page. How do I keep the current Page displayed while linking to new Page? Thanks

Hi everyone, I'm very new with XML and I need help with inserting XML data into mysql database using coldfusion. I looked on the Coldfusion Documentation and saw how to Convert XML to a Coldfusion query....but there was no example on how to do an insert. If anyone can provide me a good example or direct me to a right direction on how to do this, I would really appreciate it. Thank you very much in advance Alfie

My current output of dynamic names in my variable (called dynNames) has a comma at the end. I need to eliminate the last comma: Jones, Smith, Baker, Johnson, to look like this: Jones, Smith, Baker, Johnson My attempt to eliminate the last comma doesnt work because it eliminates all the commas: <cfset myNames = REReplace(dynNames, ",$" "", "All")> <cfoutput>#myNames</cfoutput> Output from my bad attempt: Jones Smith Baker Johnson Please advise.

I have a problem: I want to create a function that add a movie clip instance on the scene. function showItem(lx,ly,clip){ _root.attachMovie("doc1",clip,0); clip._x = lx; clip._y = ly; } the problem lies on the variable clip: if the function is called, e.g. showItem(240,120,"clip"); then this won't work because the "clip" variable, which should be without the " " inside the function. How do you solve this small but annoying problem? thanks for the help

Yesterday a CFHTTP tag started returning the wrong page. When the page is accessed through a browser, it looks like this: http://www.fosters.com/apps/pbcs.dll/section?category=NEWS26 When the page is captured with CFHTTP, it looks like this http://www.portsmouthnh.com/news/fosters.cfm. The CF code is very simple: <cfhttp url=" http://www.fosters.com/apps/pbcs.dll/section?category=NEWS26" method="GET" resolveurl="true" timeout="35" charset="Windows-1252" throwonerror="Yes"> <cfset fosters="#cfhttp.filecontent#"> <cfoutput>#fosters#</cfoutput> What's up with that? No changes have been made to the CF. My site is virtually hosted so I don't know if any server changes were made, although I'm asking. The remote site generally requires registration, but we have a working agreement and this page has been fine for months. What could cause that? Tx.

I am very new to flash so please bear with me.. I am trying to create a simple interaction: when the user mouses over one coloured box that the second coloured box will move to the side (instead of partially covering the first box) I have used this code: on(rollOver){ red._x=10 } on(rollOut){ red._x=-10 } This provides what I am looking for, except when you mouse over for the first time, the 2nd box jumps to the side of the screen, any subsequent mouseovers and mouse offs results in the desired effect (but with the box having assumed a new origin half off the screen) Any idea why this is happening? or a better suggestion on how to do this?

Hi all Can anyone help please? I am having a problem dynamically loading a gif file into my swf, using flash player 8 at run time. I am using flashMX to develop my site but I do understand that dynamically loading gifs & pngs has recently be introduced in the new flash player 8 so I test my swf in a browser window to see the correct result. First of all let me explain what im trying to do, I am using myMovieClip.loadMovie("http//:myURL.picture.gif"); because I want to load the picture into a target movieclip. This works well when I load jpg or swf files, but when I try and load a gif in the same way nothing happens? I then used loadMovieNum("http//:myURL.picture.gif", 2); to see if I got a different result. This loads the gif correctly into a new level in my flash movie which is good in a way because I know the flash player can display the gif. BUT I don't want the picture in a new level in my flash movie, I need it in a target movieclip ??? Can anyone suggest why the loa

Using cfftp, is there another way to get a file's LastModified DT stamp other that using action="listDir"? I have a scheduled job that hits an ftp server every minute. The file I'm trying to check is in a folder with a handful of files that are all constantly updating, and my code intermittently bails on the "listDIr". My guess is one of the files are being updated at the moment I'm doing a "listDir", and ColdFusion can't read the directory and bails. Thanks for reading, JB

I'm having trouble linking to a file. At the Hyperlink dialog box, I select File... from the Link To: drop-down, navigate to the file I want to link to, but when I click OK, nothing happens. I think the cause of this problem is that I accidentally clicked the "Don't show this dialog box again" check box that normally appears during this process. The last time I saw this dialog box, I also accidentally clicked "Yes". I guess my core question is, how do I undo the "Don't show this dialog box again" check box? Thanks! -Tom

1. When is it more appropriate to use a click box vs. a button (or vice-versa)? 2. Why do buttons have an "inactive" area after the active area? What if I want my button to display for the first five seconds, and then become active - what is the best way to accomplish this? 3. On slide 1, I have a "NEXT" graphic covered by a click box. I want the movie to pause until the user clicks on the click box. In web page preview, slide 1 pauses but becomes greyed-out after the slide reaches the end of the timeline. How can I prevent it from greying out? Thanks in advance!

I am stressing out because I don't know if this can be done or not. I am running CFMX7 and need to do the following if possible. 1. Convert an existing file to PDF (doc, jpg, ppts...) 2. Append existing PDF files with other PDF files. Is this possible withint CFMX7? I know how to create a PDF file from scratch, but not from an existing file. Thank you and this is REALLY hot. Jim

Hello again. I shy away from forums generally, but because of the speedy response, I have come back again with another problem. Thanks BKBK! My XML reader was fine, working, singing and dancing. But when I shifted the script onto the live server where I received an error message saying that "xmlParse" (the glorious function I had been using to handle my XML up to this point) was unidentified. I realised that the live server was using CF 5. I built the script in CF 6. xmlParse isnt in CF 5 apparently. Our crappy hosting company wont install CF 6 or 7. Not yet at least. Now Ive looked in the CF 5 book here in the office for some tips. The sorry equivalant is CFWDDX. I couldnt parse a simple <root><node></node></root>. Maybe Im doing it wrong. From what Ive read and seen, WDDX is its own format, which doesnt seem to do 'casual xml'. The file I would like to parse is 37 MB's filled with &amps and such and I dont think CFWDDX is going to cut it. If anyone know

Hi All, Apologies if this is a little off topic, but I just thought that someone out there has bumped into this problem and come up with a solution. Any advice / pointers gratefully received thanks! I'd like to create a bunch of captivate movies which will be accessed over the web. Different clients/customers need to access different movies. What I'd really like to be able to do is post these movies on my site OR a site offering secure hosting. The client would be given a URL - when they accessed the URL they would go to a login page (and provide a password) and then be presented with a startup page / menu where they can access the movies that relate to the software that they are using (the clients all use different versions of the software so the movies are subtly different for each). Any one come across this type of hosting solution or has any ideas for this scenario? Many thanks Craig

Hey guys, This is such a stupid question to be asking but it's one I've not come across in a while and I'm danged if I can remember how to do it - I basically have a scrollable map I've been building, but the scroll buttons need to be clicked over and over to move around the map - how can I go about having the following iterate indefinitely until the mouse is relased?: on(release) { _level0.map._x = _level0.map._x + 20; } I know it'll be an onpress do while etc etc - but I don't know the most efficient way of tackling it! Any ideas? Thanks, Graham

I've exported a RoboHelp Word help file to WebHelp. How do I point users at a specifc topic using a url? The help app is here: http://www.profantasy.com/cchelp/fcad32.htm For example, if I clicked on the link "CC3 for new users" and wanted someone to be able to point their browser at it, what link would I use? Thanks Simon Rogers

Hello, firstable, I would like to thanks all the peoples that make this forum so interesting. I found a lot of informations on this site to help me to create my swf that i am working on. But , at this time I have a problem that i would like to expose to all of you My swf is quiet simple. I would like show different animations in a random way, with a skeletal timing. The list of the animations are included in the library of the principal animation. So I have this principal animation with, on the first frame this code: _global.MyTime = 5000 //to create a random number between x and y //Math.round(Math.random()*(y-x))+x; // so to create a random number between 2 et 7 we will have: var MaVariable = Math.round(Math.random()*5)+2 trace (MaVariable); gotoAndPlay(MaVariable); on the next frames 2 to 7 , I have inserted on each frame one library's animation with a stop(). inside each library's animation , on the first frame, I have the following code: function GoGet() { _level0.

Hi - I have a movie clip that acts like an Index (Table of Contents) of the site, where I am using a dynamic text area. I need to have the text area scrollable because the Index is a very long list. The challenge is that I need to link entries in the Index to SWFs in the overall application. I know that html tags and getURL actions won't work. If it was a button on the stage I would use something like - on (release) { navTo("Intro_1.swf"); } and it would work great. But the actionscript has to be attached to text in a scrolling text area...not a button. How can I wrap text like this in Actionscript to make links to swfs?? TIA your help. JL

I am trying to upload a file to the server using cffile. I want to force a filename(scheduleupload.mdb) and the location(C:\upload\schedule). This code works great on my test box. The upoaded file goes to C:\upload\schedule\SCHEDULEUPLOAD.MDB However, on my server, this same code is trying to create a folder called SCHEDULE.MDB and then placing the file into that folder, i.e. C:\upload\schedule\SCHEDULEUPLOAD.MDB\scheduletest.mdb where scheduletest.mdb is the filename uploaded. Any ideas why the same exact code would behave differently on 2 machines(both running xp)? Thanks Grant

Hello! I am using Flex front end in conjunction with CF backend to create a file, then download it to the user. The series of events is: Flex calls the first CF page using LoadVars: my_lv.send("filemaker.cfm","new1","POST");" The filemaker runs a query and creates a file on the server, then calls a download page, passing it the file name like so: <SCRIPT language="JavaScript1.2" type="text/javascript"> window.open("sendfiletouser.cfm?outputfile=<CFOUTPUT>#URLEncodedFormat(OutputFile)#</cfoutput>","new1"); </SCRIPT> The sendfiletouser.cfm basically uses a CFHEADER/CFCONTENT combo to squirt the file to the user (obviously I set the variables properly) <CFHEADER name="Content-Disposition" value="attachment; filename=#FileName#"> <CFCONTENT type="#MimeType#" file="#OutputFile#" deletefile="yes"> It works GREAT! Files go out exactly how they need. Except…. There is a window left behind. Yuck. I don't want to over-write the Flex ap running so I
