Question

Why is my Media Cache Database stored at 2 different locations?

In the Media preferences settings I have my media cache files & Database set to the same folder.

This produces 2 folders total IN the location I set:

Media Cache

Media Cache Files

BUT Premiere is also storing/creating new files inside this folder:

C:\Users\*USER*\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Common\Media Cache Files

only 352KB of files, .ims extension but still annoying that it hasn't moved everything to my other folder which has been set for months since the start of my installation!

for my own set location the 'Media Cache' folder is  4MB with.mcdb files, so must be the database

and Media Cache Files is the large files, [500GB]

If you relocated your Media Cache/Databse in PrPro, check those Media preferences in Media Encoder as well. All the Adobe programs (AME, AfterFX, etc) will default to there - so that might explain why your cache is still building there.

Media encoder shows my 2 proper folders for both, so is after effects.

the .ims files are created when I open a premiere project, so I dont know whats going on

.ims files are database instances - they're created to link the footage in your project to the conformed Media Cache files. They're just database files so they shouldn't be large.

With all programs Media Caches relocated, the Media Cache is still building cache files in C:\..\AppData\... ?
