InDesign

I have Creative Suite Pro. For some reason I purchased a license for InDesign as well, which I obviously don’t need since it’s part of the suite. If I drop the InDesign license, is it going to mess with the projects we have in progress? Before I remove it, I want to make sure otherwise my designer will end me.

I have all updates for the apps installed. When using indesign--where i constantly use the libraries--it freezes constantly and I have to quit indd & restart it for it to come back. all other parts of the program work fine. it's only the libraries that freezes. 

I set up a document with DATE>TAB>HOLIDAY and when I copied it into a new document it became HOLIDAY>TAB>DATE.  Is there a setting to prevent this from happening?

Please use the direct selection tool to select the innermost image.The code is invalid for the blue image in the middle. HiEach time I import an image into Indesign, the image loads okay, but I get the blue swirling ‘loading’ icon that never stops. I can save my document, and the menus still work but I can’t work on the actual page, and the only way I can clear it it to Force quit Indesign using Task Manager. This started about 2 weeks ago, and was fine before and I haven’t made any changes to my PC. I thought maybe it started after an update of Indesign, so I tried reverting to an older version, but still had the same problem.I have tried re-installing Indesign. (version21.3)  I use Windows 11.I really hope you can help please?Thanks Chris

Hello again.I’m working on getting back to the other questions I’ve started, but meanwhile I’m also trying to get this ebook out on Draft 2 Digital.The ebook cover looked fine when I uploaded it to Amazon, but now that I’ve got it on Draft 2 Digtial it is scaled wrong.  Google says the original image is 600 x1004 pixels and that that is the problem. Is there a way to upscale it using InDesign? I’ve adjusted the layout to be 1600 x2560 which is the dimensions I want, but when I place the image and fit it to the frame it appears I’m stretching it instead of upscaling it. Is there a way to fix this?

The last couple months I’ve been experiencing what I can only describe like lag issues in redrawing my layout. Reminds me using Quark a million years ago.If I change a font size, the layout doesn’t show the change unless I click off the text box.When scrolling or moving the page I get large grey geometric shapes or blank spaces or colorful glitchy lines.I’ve turned off GPU performance but it doesn’t matter.Anyone else seeing this?MacBook Pro M4Max 48GB RAM

502 Bad Gateway For all of my Published Online documents! Even one-pagers. Just updated InDesign (v. 21.6, Windows software) and tried again with one page, also gives Bad Gateway. All of my client products are in InDesign Publish Online..

InDesign 21.6 - Windows 11 - Local.When images are imported in Ai or PDF formats, the Alt Text does not appear as a tooltip on the accessible PDF while it is present for JPG imports.The control on Acrobat mentions the presence of the Alt Text for Ai or PDF imports but does not display the tooltip.Is it a technical constraint, a forgotten step or a lack to be corrected on the app? In the case of constraints, it seems tedious to me to have to transpose all the Ai or PDF imports into JPG.Thank you for your feedback.

When I have a multi-page Parent page, I will want to adjust the size of 1 single page. I click on a page but it will select all three instead of 1. It only does this sometimes. At times I can click to the desktop and then back on the desired page a few times and it will work properly. Sometimes not. Any opinions?

Hello, why can't I upload files to Indd when it worked fine for years. Most graphic designers and studios work with NAS devices. I can't save anything, I have to make copies and restore files. Can something be done about it? Thank you very much rh     <Title renamed by MOD>

Windows 11 - My screen is going completely black from the bottom whenever I drag an object. I can still see my object, but from the object bottom to the taskbar at the bottom it turns completely black. The black adjusts according to where i drag the object. The laptop is a 17” HP Envy.

Hey everyone, my command+Z shortcut for »Undo« doesn't work in Indesign, and I can't find the source of error. The problem is Indesign-specific, because the rest of the Adobe programs work with command+Z, as do all other programs on my laptop. I already re-downloaded Indesign, set it up again, checked for missing links and am now at the end of my wits. Can somebody help me? :=) xx, clara

We're seeing an intermittent crash when quitting InDesign 2026 (v21.5.1.73, macOS 26.5.2, Apple Silicon) while our C++ SDK plugin is loaded. Hi everyone,I'm currently using InDesign (Beta) on my Windows PC because my SnapDragon X Plus processor isn’t compatible with the standard version of InDesign. However, since this morning, the application won’t launch anymore. I immediately get the following error message:"Your InDesign (Beta) build has expired."The strange thing is that I already have the latest available version installed, which is 20.6.Do you know when it will be possible to use InDesign (Beta) again?Will a new build be released soon so we can continue working with it?Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi everyone,I’m typesetting an Arabic book in InDesign 2026 using the Middle Eastern/Arabic features. The document is RTL and the body text is fully justified.I’m currently using Adwa Al Salaf for the Arabic body text. My paragraph styles use the Adobe paragraph composer and Arabic justification/Kashida settings.I’m having a problem with the visual spacing between words in different paragraphs.Some paragraphs are relatively short, and InDesign creates noticeably large spaces between the Arabic words in order to justify the lines. Another paragraph directly below may be longer and therefore looks much denser. The difference between the two paragraphs can look quite strong on the same page.I would like to know the best professional way to handle this in Arabic book typography.In particular:Can I adjust the word spacing / justification settings for one individual paragraph without changing the paragraph style for all other paragraphs?I have tried the paragraph justification/composer setti

This new udpate gives me a contstant spinning wheel almost after each action I try to make. Select an item, move an item, open a panel, open a menu, anything really—each interactions causes the wheel to appear for 1-2sec. My productivity has been completely obliterated. I can copy maybe 2 times from one open document to another open document before InDesign shuts down. It does not crash when copying within the same document. I have tried resetting preferences, disabled all in clip-board handling, but it is still the same. It occurs in random documents, so not the same either document, picture or elements.   <Title renamed by MOD>
