InDesign

Whenever I install new fonts from Adobe's font website, the fonts do not appear in the drop-down menu on InDesign. I have restarted my computer, forced sync, and ensured that InDesign is up to date. I have also installed all these fonts directly onto my computer through the Creative Cloud, and they still do not show up.  This has been a problem four times now as I need to install new fonts for typesetting and book cover design regularly. Eventually, they do show up after hours, but that is not conducive to my work as these things need to be finished quickly. Is this a bug? Or this is an issue that I could somehow fix on my end? Although the reference number (2) is correct, the footnote (1) does not number consecutively. This is in the same story -- bizarre!

I have selected text which is to be my Hyperlink Source highlighted in yellow in the screenshot below i.e. when the reader clicks on it, the app should take them to another location (Hyperlink Destination). However, I am unable to "Create Hyperlink" or "Edit Hyperlink" When I select this text to create a hyperlink for it, the options to “Create New Hyperlink”, “Edit Hyperlink”, and “Reset Hyperlink” are greyed out (screenshot below)  A “Text Anchor” has been created for the Hyperlink Destination but am unable to identify it as ID names it randomly. The inability to quickly and easily identify Text Anchors in ID is extremely frustrating!All support and advise would be greatly appreciated!

Constrain proportions for width and height in InDesign 2025 (20.0) is broken. In previous versions of InDesign the constrain-status would stay the way you selected always, now you have to link it every time you scale something, it's quite annoying and adds an extra step to workflow.   <Title renamed by MOD>  

Hi everyone,I’m having a recurring issue with InDesign and I’m wondering if anyone has experienced the same problem.Whenever I place an image in an InDesign document and then try to scale or fit the image to the frame, InDesign sometimes completely freezes.For example, I right-click on the image and choose an option such as fitting or scaling the image to the frame. At that point, the right-click menu stays open on screen, my mouse cursor changes to the loading circle, and InDesign stops responding.The strange part is that the freeze seems to affect more than just InDesign. I can no longer type, close InDesign, or properly switch to other applications, including non-Adobe applications.Even Task Manager becomes difficult to open. I can only access it by pressing the Windows key and navigating from there. Hi! In InDesign version 21.5.1, the OAM files generated in Animate don't work when I preview the spread in EPUB, nor when I export the document in Publish Online. I had to revert InDesign to version 21.4.1 for it to work as it used to. Any ideas on how to use the latest version and get the OAM files working?Thanks!

So when I click on sidebars it works, the rectangle tool for instance, but when I try and create nothing happens unless I use the Apple Pencil. Is there a way to click into things like that with a mouse? I’m trying to type in text boxes and things like that but am struggling with selecting where in the text box I want to type and actually being able to type in the box with a Bluetooth keyboard because latterly nothing happens when I click with the mouse. using the mouse would be much preferable rather than trying to use the scribble feature on the Apple Pencil. If there is a way to make this work it would be much appreciated! Thank You!

Hi -- I rarely work in Adobe InDesign, but I had to modify an existing INDD file today and I cannot access some of the text boxes in my spread.  For reference, I am using Adobe InDesign 21.6 | 64-bit. I’ve looked at previous posts, and they mentioned to try the following steps:Get your Black Arrow/Selection tool. Place your cursor directly above the text you can see, but not modify. Click the mouse button. Most likely, you'll see a larger element is selected than your mystery line of type. Hold down the Cmd key (Mac) or Ctrl key (Windows), then click again. This lets you select elements beneath the top one in the stacking order. If that doesn't get you there, select the Object>Unlock All on Spread menu command to release any and all locked elements, then try it again.None of the above options worked for me.  Here is a screenshot of what I’m working on. If there is a sequence of characters "AB"—where User 1 deletes "A" and User 2 deletes "B"—the deletion log records that User 2 deleted both "A" and "B"; in other words, deleting adjacent characters results in a single combined record. Is this intended behavior or a bug?

When I try to create a text box in my A-Parent page, and I insert a Current Page Number, I get a red check box and an error that says there is overset text.

I have noticed that I cannot work offline anymore, it keeps saying “We can’t verify your subscription status” (error 12015). I did a clean test a day later - switched off wifi in house and on the computer, no internet cable attached, and switched the computer on from a really shut-down status (not from sleep). Same message. Hitting ‘Try again’ repeatedly did not help.To be clear, I have worked the whole day on InDesign with Internet, 2 h ago (not 30 days). This would mean I cannot work on the plane for 14 hours, or on other places without internet… which I could do before.Is this normal behaviour?Very happy InDesign user for 15 years, now frustrated because of this, AI popups (InD, Acrobat), Gen AI switching again on after an update and a constant fear of security (confidentiality) issues. When using Keep Options to disallow widows in InDesign, paragraphs will randomly break in the middle of pages. I've been following the correct instructions for disallowing widows—keeping lines together at the start and end of paragraphs with 1 line at the start and 2 at the end (I’ve also tried this with 2 lines at the start, but that doesn’t help the issue). When the breaks fall in the middle of pages, there’s nothing that I can do to fix it. I’ve tried adding a return after the broken paragraph to see if that will help it to move to the correct page, but it doesn’t work. I’ve also tried lengthening and shortening the text box, and that doesn’t work either. Also, weirdly, this only happens with some documents, not all. Is this a glitch, and if so, what can be done to fix it?

How can I make this banner disappear for good?I'm tired of having to click the “X” after every PDF export.Thank you  

After updating to Indesign 21.6 the ‘go to next page’ and ‘go to previous page’ buttons stopped working when I export my file to an interactive pdf. I have tried everything, even saving my file to .idml.It has always worked fine and I have used it for years, but suddenly it doesn’t function anymore. Which really dissappointed one of my biggest clients.I assume it is a bug, can you please fix this?Mirjam

I'm not completely opposed to generative AI (won't get into my opinion on it personally), but Adobe really needs to stop shoving these half-baked features in our faces. Why on earth, while editing a text document on InDesign, would I need to see a pop-up suggesting "text-to-image" AI features? It's literally blocking what I'm working on and I have to close the dialogue.

Hello,I am experiencing a recurring issue with the File > Place dialog in both InDesign and Illustrator. It has been happening since I started using this Mac.My setup: MacBook Pro 16-inch (2023) Apple M2 Max, 96 GB RAM macOS Tahoe 26.6.2 Adobe 2026 applications, including InDesign 21.6 Files stored locally on the internal drive Full Disk Access already enabled for both InDesign and Illustrator Steps to reproduce: Modify an existing .ai file in Illustrator and save it with Cmd+S. Immediately go to File > Place in InDesign or Illustrator. The newly saved .ai file appears greyed out and cannot be selected. What I have tested: Waiting 10 seconds with the Place dialog open does not help. Navigating to another folder and returning does not help. Closing the Place dialog completely and reopening it makes the same file selectable immediately. Dragging the same file directly from Finder into InDesign works on the first attempt. My InDesign document got many hyperlinks, which are generated through automation when it is exported accessibilty pdf the link tag is selecting previous link. For the whole document it is happening like this, why it is happening & how to fix this.  The  Link-OBJR under one link tag is selecting another link as shown in the images below     

Hello,I am a professional graphic designer and I use Adobe InDesign all day, every day, for client work.Immediately after installing the macOS 27 Golden Gate Public Beta, InDesign became almost unusable.The problem is intermittent. InDesign can work normally for a while, then suddenly freeze. It seems to happen most often when I am editing text or changing fonts, although I cannot reproduce it consistently.When this happens:Save becomes disabled (greyed out). Save As becomes disabled. Close becomes disabled. I cannot save my work. I cannot close the document. The only solution is to Force Quit InDesign, which causes me to lose hours of work.This happens with multiple InDesign documents, not just one file.I have already:Updated InDesign to the latest version. Tested a previous version of InDesign. Restarted my Mac many times.The issue started immediately after installing the macOS 27 Golden Gate Public Beta.Has anyone else experienced this issue?Can Adobe confirm whether this is a known
