Adobe Support state they cannot change my country of location?!

Community Beginner ,
Jan 21, 2025 Jan 21, 2025

I have been on chat operatives three times today to inform them that I have moved to the UK and need to change my country of location so that I pay the correct fees for being a UK resident.

I am a student and also have my Adobe Portfolio site associated with my personal email.

I can not even begin to understand why on earth Adobe's customer services operatives cannot change my account location to the UK! When I try to add a new UK based payment card the country/location is greyed and locked at my previous location.

Someone at Adobe must be able to rectify this! My account fees will double in moving to the UK, but I can't pay for the correct subscription because of this ridiculous inability to update your own location!

No, Bleachershane. The newly acquired subscription will be under the new account in the UK. As part of the account creation process, you will be asked to use an e-mail address that is not already in use.

The country associated with your adobe id must match the store you purchase from and must match the payment address. otherwise, change what's necessary:

change country associated with adobe id - https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/change-country-associated-with-adobe-id.html

change credit card and/or billing address, https://helpx.adobe.com/manage-account/using/update-billing-information.html

change currency - https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1999694

change store - http://www.adobe.com/store_selector/storeselector.html

change adobe.com website language - https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1999693

When trying to buy a plan and therefore add a new card that will change the location of my billing details, the location box is greyed out? Why and how do I remedy this? Why is it so difficult to change your location through Adobe, they had done this before for me!

Bleachershane, sorry if there was any confusion in the response provided by our support team in case ADB-38223706-M3N4. Please create a new account to start your new subscription. You can use the steps listed in https://adobe.ly/3PI8N8W to transfer any files from your old account, including Adobe Portfolio.

Your support case is still open, so please use the steps listed in https://adobe.ly/3PI8NWu if you have any additional questions. ^JW

Hello Jeffrey, I am unsure as to why I need to create a new account when I've had this Adobe for a number of years, this seems counterproductive to the simple action of changing my location to the UK.

Would this essentially mean that any professional moving country would need to create a new account each time they move country for work, and need to switch their subscription? This seems more than a little ridiculous especially when it comes to investing resources into using your services such as Adobe Portfolio, and then unnecessarily needing to go through a process to migrate them when all I want to do is update my account to say that I now reside in the UK.

Bleachershane, if you have additional questions as to why we were unable to accommodate the change from your current country to the UK, then please use the steps in https://adobe.ly/4jqQDq8 to update your active support case.

There are a variety of restrictions that can come into play, when making a significant change as moving to a different country. We will always do our best to accommodate the requests to change countries whenever possible. Please see my previous post for information on how to move any work from your previous account. ^JW

I have one final question about this matter, and I am really not happy as to why in this day and age a change of address is nigh on impossible, if I purchase the full yearly student subscription from Amazon UK and apply this to my account using the purchased serial, will this update my subscription and enable me to keep my current account as it is?

Hi @Jeffrey_A_Wright, I have to agree with @bleachershane1, here. I'm having the same issue. I understand that their might be tax or tariff regulations that probit an easy switch of associated countries. However, I also find it incredibly counterproductive to have to create a new email account just to create a new adobe account each time I move...

It would be great if this issue could be resolved in such a way that continuing to use Adobe subscription products is easy when moving to a different country.

Regardless, any support beyond the limmited help that your customer and technical support chat team has been able to provide would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks, @sivihk, for the feedback. This feature has been investigated, but there are often legal restrictions that also prevent accounts from changing countries.

Please see my response to our other discussion on how you can transfer assets between accounts.
