How can Turn off the 'AI Assistant'?

How can I get rid of the horrible 'AI Assisitant' ? I hate, hate, hate, hate eeverything about it. I hate the popups that constantly get in my way every time I open a new PDF, I hate the way it dramatically slows down the application every time I want to just search for something, and I hate that way that it doesn't work at all or provide any value of any form. I just want it gone and never, ever, ever, ever, under any circumstances want it to be there getting in the way of every simple thing I want to do.  Please, please, please, please: how can I make it just go away? I just want to open and look at a PDF for heavens sake, I don't need any of this AI nonsense.

Hi all,

Your feedback matters—and we’ve listened.

We understand that not everyone requires AI assistance in their workflow. Many of you shared concerns about intrusive prompts and lack of control, and we’ve taken action.

Now, Acrobat gives you complete control over AI features through Preferences. You decide what stays on and what turns off—no enforcement, no surprises — just flexibility.

For more information on preferences, please check this out: https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat-discussions/we-heard-you-full-control-over-ai-features-in-acrobat/td-p/15586524

To whom it may concern,

Is there a way / facility from the Adobe Acrobat Pro administration web console for corporate customers to disable this AI feature for all users with an Adobe Acrobat Pro subscription assigned to there individual user's?

I look forward to your reply.

Regards.

I have done all of this and the ai still shows up and resets all my setttings. I am trying to get work done and I am constantly hurddling over this ai nonsense that I do not need.

I am looking for a way to turn this off on my Mac and within Chrome. I am generally opening sheet music by pdf, and this is ridiculous to think that AI could summarize it. I've tried AI in my work--it can't even put a G clef on a staff, much less summarize a piece of music. I just want this to go away. I am tired of tech using me to learn. They don't pay me, they shouldn't have access to any of my information. But I teach, so I don't have a choice but to use the tech. Please come up with common sense fixes for this.

I think this is something that you have to switch off in Google. Maybe it's under 3rd party apps in your Google profile(?) which is under the "Data & Privacy" section (scroll to the bottom). Deselect it and see if that works.

I'm just guessing here....

I like that guess! There's a place under Google Settings; Extensions; Adobe
Acrobat; Details; Extension Options to Enable Generative AI features in
Acrobat. Looks perfect!

Two problems:
- Why is it so hard to find?
- Why doesn't it change anything when I shut it off? I saved, and
refreshed, and restarted the computer, and went back to check that it was
still off... and it still shows the AI icon and offers to summarize
checklists.

But, thanks--maybe someday I'll get ALL the switches to off. But I doubt
it.

I have no idea how I got here, as I have tried so many things, but this actually worked (on a PC) - toggle off the ai per the below:

This solution is only relevant for using acrobat within chrome. I typically avoide using chrome at all.

I'm not so sure that's true (Chrome).  I can open the adobe program and no issues, separate from chrome. I have a place I go where the pdf's are automatically opened in Chrome, and that's where I was having the ai popup driving me insane.  This fixed it.  So, maybe we're not having the same issue, other than that ai is driving us over the edge.

I have finally worked it out.

Adobe is a front for AI (the mindkiller) it is taking over the known world ( and also the unknown) we are not going to get anywhere now we have released the genie. BUT  if you revert to the previous version and go into Task manager and click on the right settings to stop updates you too can have a relatively AI free Adobe experience, sort of.

Thank you, Ed May, for putting into words my exact feelings about the "AI Assistant."  May we all experience technology without the useless AI "enhancements" in the future!  Cheers!

That solution works until Adobe opens again. Then, AI is back. I need another way to get rid of it.

Try my solution below. And I really don't know how I got there, but I didn't have close anything out and it worked immediately.

I am still really confused , I have the old display, I did not change anything and every time im looking at a picture an AI window pops up and for what im doing it is uselss , it says it is a metal object with yelow paint ... even still it is a waste of time that it does it at all cause i dont want it there, i cannot shut if off , i do not have a generative AI option in my preferences, and anything I look at isnt helping get rid of this , for the record I should be able to opt into changes made by software not have to manually remove them , none of this discussion has addressed by problem.  All I want is it gone how can i do that?

Hi @3645951_4690,

Hope you are doing well. Sorry for the trouble with using Acrobat.

You might want to try switching to the Old UI and check if it works.

To do so, go to Menu > Disable New Acrobat > Restart.

Let us know how it goes.

Souvik.

Turn this annoying "feature" off Adobe. I have STRONG NEGATIVE FEELINGS towards you right now.

I just cancelled my subscription. Tried turning off AI and it kept reactivating.  AI was just getting in the way, slowed things down, tried to create summaries of blueprints, rotated pages randomly.  All I needed was Acrobat to create PDF's, add comments to PDFs, and create PDF forms - the other products included in the subscription I wasn't using.
