Question

Marked text turns into text from previous page

Hi community,

I have the following odd problem. I searched for similiar threads, but could not find any.

In some (not all, but I cannot detect any pattern) PDF documents that I open with Acrobat DC, the text I mark with my cursor (in preparation of highlighting it) turns into the text from the previous or following page of the same document. This is rather annoying since it makes the actually text disappear. Only when I unmarked or highlight the text it becomes normal again. I attached two screenshot to make my point clearer.

I re-installed the software several times now, including AcroCleaner, but without any success.

Is it maybe a font problem? How could I resolve this issue? Acrobat is updated.

Thanks,

Gregor

I have exactly the same problem on many documents on multiple computers for about 6 months.  incredibly annoying - I have to constantly page up and down in order to "refresh" pages I have been viewing.   A really nasty bug.  Very odd that it hasn't caused problems for more people.  It is intermittent

I cannot confirm on either of the shared documents the bug. But you could indeed try the suggested solution: to disable the “Use page cache”.

It may well be that the data in the cache gets corrupted. That may be a screen driver issue.

I'm now trying to find preferences - its not obvious at all!  dear oh dear.  I finally found it under Menu after looking for it for ages under Edit!

But yes indeed, switching off page cache works!  thank you

I have noticed the same problem for several weeks now. I don't have a solution for it, but I can replicate it, so I'm hoping someone can can offer a solution. Also, another user seems to have the same problem: https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat-discussions/acrobat-pro-display-issue-when-using-select-or-highlight/m-p/14249241

It seems that Adobe erroneously displays the text from a different page during the highlight selection process. Once the selection process is ended (either by terminating or completing the highlight command), the text from the correct page is displayed once again.

I can reliably replicate the problem on many different documents. I've made a mockup document to illustrate the process.  The document consists of one page of lorem ipsum in Times New Roman font, and one page describing my impression of the error in large Arial Black font. These two pages are then duplicated a handful of times.

The following steps replicate the issue *almost* every time:

1) make sure Acrobat is not running.

2) double click on the file to open (Windows 10 x64)

3) make sure the view is set to FIt One Full Page

4) scroll rapidly back and forth through the pages in the document

5) attempt to highlight some text. (If the problem doesn't occur, go back to step 4)

My series of images 1-6 illustrate the problem

Thanks so much to whoever can help!

Thanks! This sums it up very nicely. I always use the "one full page view", so I guess I did not even notice, that I missed mentioned that.

I might have found a solution, though I am not sure if this has fixed it for good, or if it is only a snaphot. But for now the following measure has solved the problem for me:

Preferences -> Page Display -> deactivate "Use page cache"

This workaround seems to be working for me also.

Are those scanned documents with OCR text?

Could you share one of them with us?

Hi,

Thanks for you reply.

Yes, some of them are scanned documents with OCR, but most of them are not (see attached example).

In some of the documents the problem appears on every page, on some of the documents only on a few pages. But again, I do not see any pattern.
