Redaction Problems - Creates Hidden Comment

First off I want to say Adobe Acrobat is a very frustrating program thats clunky, buggy, and all-around difficult to work with. It needs to be rewritten from the ground up. The moment I find a similar program with similar functionality, I'm dropping this one.

With that said, the Redaction Tool is being difficult to work with. Aside from not knowing how to work with wildcards (who even designs a search feature without wildcards these days?), when I right-click on a redaction prior to implementing it and select "Repeat Mark Across Pages", and then I implement it, Adobe Acrobat for some god-forsaken reason adds comments to every. single. page. it redacts that show up in Preview on MacOS.

And there's no way to turn this off that I'm aware of. I have to GO BACK IN and remove hidden information to fix a problem that shouldnt even be a problem to begin with because the Adobe Developers couldnt make a simple process simple.

I'm left with a comment that says "Unmarked set be" and then my name. No. No comment is needed. Just redact that freaking information and leave the rest alone.

By all means i hope developers read this and either show me how to make that stop or take it out of their dumb code the next time they fiddle around with it.

This is on MacOS and the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Version 2024.002.20759

Hi there

Hope you are doing well and sorry to hear that

Is this an issue with a particular PDF file or with all the PDFs? Please try with a different PDF file and check. If the file is stored on a shared network/drive please download it to your computer locally and then try again.

As you have the recent version of the application please try to reset the Acrobat preferences as described here https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat-discussions/how-to-reset-acrobat-preference-settings-to-default/td-p/4792082 and check

You may also try to create a new test user profile with full admin rights or enable the root account in MAC and try using the application there and check.

If it still doesn't work, please remove the application using the Acrobat cleaner tool https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/Labs/cleaner.html, reboot the computer and reinstall the application using the direct link https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-dc-downloads.html

Let us know how it goes.

This is a problem with all PDFs that occurs when I redact information across a PDF on a specific part of the page.

This is not a problem with the install; this is a problem with the Adobe Acrobat program that others have brought to your attention and you have not fixed.

Hi there,

We are sorry to hear that. Please share the small video recording of the steps and the issue occurring along with the PDF file in question for checking.

Also would you mind collecting the Adobe CC logs https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/cc-log-collector.html , Procmon logs (Win Only) https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/Labs/acromonitor.html and  share them via any cloud storage. Just upload the log file to the cloud and generate the link and share that link with us for further investigation.

Regards
Amal
