Will Adobe Live Cycle Designer end soon? If so what is the alternative to do the licensing of PDF ?

I have purchased  Adobe Live Cycle ES4 Designer package. Licensing for the same will end by 2023.Heard Adobe Live Cycle Designer will end soon. If so what is  the alternative option to apply reader right extensions to the PDF Forms developed viaAdobe Acrobat PRO.

Awaiting a response on this at the earliest.

The original poster seems to have moved on from this post without choosing to clarify anything, but other posts seem to confirm that he or she is creating forms in Acrobat Pro (When using a Barcode field, is it possible to Enco... - Adobe Support Community - 12836488), seeming to confirm that he or she was just confused into buying LiveCycle Designer because he or she believed it would add rights. However, of course adding barcodes that update in Reader does need rights, and not rights. Other posts curiously ask about getting a free trial of Acrobat, despite stating that he or she is already using it. One thing is certain: by starting new threads and never clarifying key points, Alex is certain of getting confused and incomplete replies. I think we're wasting our time.

Bernd Alheit and radzmar please read the original post:

"If so what is the alternative option to apply reader right extensions to the PDF Forms developed via Adobe Acrobat PRO".

PDF forms made with Acrobat Pro do not require any Reader Extension.

I believe LC ES4 was simply renamed AEM 6.0. I was able to download and install version 6--currently at 6.4.0.x with the same serial number.

Modern Acrobat Readers can save AcroForms without plugins, but Reader cannot save XFA forms without extended rights. Acrobat Pro can do that, but I don't know if the current legal limitations still apply. I believe it was limited to 500 uses for the form or something like that.

That's right. You can use the serial numbers of your Designer ES4 for AEM Forms Designer 6.x, which is almost the same application except some minor changes.

The limitation with the Reader Extension applied by Acrobat is, that you can't collect data from more than 500 users when using the distribute form function in Acrobat. But honestly, this isn't a problem for most people.

Why do you need to apply Reader Extensions?

This is no longer required since Acrobat Reader can read and save any PDF (since version XI).

Reader extension is required for XFA forms.

Yes, but presumably since the poster has ONLY JUST purchased Designer, the poster doesn't have any XFA forms to Reader enable. It's hard to tell as he or she doesn't seem to be answering any questions which try to clarify and help us give good advice. Ah well.

Also, why do you keep starting new posts rather than acknowledging you already have relevant replies? I replied to a post of yours about this already -- Is Adobe Reader Extension used going to get expire... - Adobe Support Community - 12826688

1. LiveCycle was replaced by AEM years ago. Where did you buy LiveCycle ES4 Designer?

2. Designer does not add reader rights. This is done by an enterprise product included in AEM. When it was in LiveCycle it was called LiveCycle Reader Extensions. Expect a 5-6 figure price tag.

You can also add a subset of usage rights just by using Acrobat Pro. There's no need for the Adobe Reader Extension Server (ARES) if you only want to apply save rights to XFA forms.

It's already gone. It has been replaced by AEM Forms Designer.

XFA PDF files can still be used, regardless. However, they will only work in Adobe software.
