Files opened from iCloud Drive not showing in recent files

Explorer ,
Mar 18, 2024 Mar 18, 2024

I am using Mac OS 11.7.10 and Adobe Acrobat Reader 2024.001.20604. Since last night, any PDFs I open from iCloud Drive on my Mac are not showing in my recently opened files in Acrobat Reader. I have never had a problem with this before. I already tried turning off my computer and restarting it. In Preferences, the "Documents in recently used list" setting hasn't changed (it's at 100). Additionally, I already had a file in my recently opened files list that was from iCloud Drive. It is not at the top of the list, and if I open the file again, it doesn't move to the top of the list. Can anyone help?

Hi Souvik, Acrobat closed down unexpectedly a few times after installing the update this morning. I will let you know if it continues and try to get a screenprint if there's an error message. Thank you for all your help.

Hi Souvik, Acrobat has been freezing a couple of times a day since the update. Is there any information I could provide that would be helpful? Also, I upgraded to Mac OS Sequoia 15.1 on 10/28/24, the day before the update was launched. Perhaps something is conflicting with that? Thank you for your help.

@Nor_1234 Is there Anything in particular where you see the freeze? For example, is there any workflow or tool you are trying to use?

If with opening files, you might want to try this:

Go to Preferences-> Page Display-> uncheck "Use Page Cache"-> click OK-> restart the app.

Let me know if that works.

Hi Souvik, I tried unchecking the box you mentioned. That seems to have
helped.

I'm finding the other time that Acrobat freezes or is very slow, is when I
click on Edit PDF. This is a new problem since the update. Any suggestions?
Thank you for your help.

@Nor_1234 Is this with a specific file or with all files in general?

Also, are these files located in any cloud drive or on your Mac's internal storage? To test, would you mind moving a PDF file to the desktop location and then trying the same edits?

Let me know how it goes.

Hi Souvik, Just a follow-up on the issue of Acrobat freezing. It stopped
doing it the day after your last email!! I've tried opening from my desktop
and from iCloud. Apple told me that when I use iCloud, I'm actually
accessing my internal storage and it's updating to the iCloud. I don't know
if I understood him correctly, but he said iCloud is an image of the
internal storage, not a back-up solution. I'm very glad everything
appears to be working correctly now and appreciate all your help. Thank you
very much.

@Nor_1234 Thanks for letting me know that it worked for you.

As mentioned by Apple Support, the iCloud section that you see, is indeed an image of the cloud folder that you have, allowing you to access the files on demand.

Anything that you change or add to iCloud, will first need to sync to the cloud service for you to access it across devices.

Yes! Acrobat finally works again!

It took seven month to fix the bug, but I'm very happy to be able to use Acrobat again.

So far so good for me. I've tested different files that are synced to Google Drive and others that are synced to Dropbox, and files in both systems now show up in my Recent list.

THANK YOU. ❤️

I can confirm that files on my local HD (not in iCloud) had previously been problematic, but this release has resolved the issue.
