‌trying to download a version of adobe reader for iOS 5.1.1 where can I find an older version of this?

The app store only gives the latest version.

‌iOS apps can only come from the app store. There is no other way to get an app.

The app store won't allow me to download an earlier version of acrobat and

the iPad is 1st generation so it can't update to the latest ios.

‌probably you will have to use the iOS PDF viewer
