Could you please let us know what exactly happens when you try to switch to Reading Mode? Do you see any error messages? If so, kindly share a screenshot—that'll help us better understand the issue.
Regarding the highlighting issue, is it happening with all PDFs or just a specific one? Please try opening a different PDF file and check if you're able to highlight text there.
From the screenshot you shared, it looks like the file is currently in Reading Mode, which disables the highlight function. If you’re the creator of the PDF, try removing any restrictions from the file. If the file was shared with you by someone else, please ask them to provide an unrestricted version.

It seems to be a file-specific issue; Please try to contact the sender of the PDF file and check if any kind of restrictions are applied; you may also ask for a fresh copy without any restrictions.
