Hello Jac,
I hope you are doing well. Per the description, I understand that you want to make Acrobat Reader Mobile your default PDF reader.
You might want to start first by clearing the default that is set on your device. Please try the below steps:
Go to Settings.
Go to Apps.
Select the other PDF app, that always opens up automatically.
Scroll down to "Launch By Default" or "Open by default".
Tap "Clear Defaults" (if this button is enabled).
The next time you tap a PDF document, the app chooser should be shown, allowing you to select the PDF Viewer.
This should now change your default PDF viewer to Acrobat Reader Mobile.
Let me know if this helps.
Thanks,
Souvik.

If I understood the OP correctly, PDFs Open just fine in Acrobat when opened outside of Outlook but don't when opened from Outlook.

Hi @Horst Kamsoya, On mobile, every other viewer app uses its own PDF viewer, and it can get complicated trying to bypass every other app's native viewer.

Had this problem, Outlook wants to open a PDF in Office365 and will prompt the user to install it if it's not already on the device but it also gives you the option of using the device default. Once the default app is set using the instructions from S S. above, selecting "Device Default" will open PDFs in Adobe Acrobat.

And if that does not help? 🙂

Thanks for writing in!
In such case, clearing all the default applications set on your device should do the trick.
You can refer to the link here to know how to: Set or clear default apps
Once done, you should see the pop-up to select the desired app at the first launch.
Then, you can set the same app to be set as default by checking in the check-box at the bottom of the same pop-up window.
Hope this helps.
