New Here ,
Mar 20, 2025 Mar 20, 2025

Hello,

When I try to fill&sign a pdf on my ipad or mobile I get a read only message.

There are no restrictions or privacy settings from the document sender.

I have the latest Acrobat Pro version.

My ipad has latest op version.

Please advise.

Thanks

Hi @pj_0708,

Hope you are doing well. Sorry for the trouble.

Would you mind sharing a few details for further investigation:

1. The app version number of Acrobat you use (go to Home-> Profile-> About Acrobat);

2. The iPadOS version of your device;

3. A screenshot of the error you see;

4. A sample file where you experience this.

From the description, it seems like you are try to use an XFA form (government forms or legal forms). Is this the case?

If yes, such forms are created using LiveCycle Designer, whose architecture is very heavy, thus rendering Acrobat unable to work with them.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Regards,
Souvik.

Thanks for the reply Souvik.
This is a general Bupa insurance form which my wife can open and sign on her iPhone.

Hi @pj_0708,

Thanks for the response, and the screenshots.

Since this is a typical form, can you check if you are able to fill in the details without getting into the Fill & Sign mode?

Forms of this nature have a few restrictions in the backend, which normally do not affect how they behave on the desktop application of Acrobat, but can have some minor differences in behavior when it comes to mobile.

Try filling the form directly by opening it in Acrobat, and not using the Fill & Sign tool and let us know how it goes.

Regards,
Souvik.
