Question

How to make linked PDF open on iPad?

I added a link in PDF A to PDF B using Acrobat Pro and configured the link so as to always open PDF B in a new window.

As expected, the link opens a new window when accessing PDF A from a computer.

But when I access PDF A from my iPad, the link doesn't work. It won't open PDF B, let alone in a new window.

The iPad has iOS 15.7.1 and Acrobat reader 23.11.01.

I forgot to say that I'm using Acrobat Reader on my iPad.

Hi @joao344743000jde,

Hope you are doing well. Thank you for writing in!

Linking external files within a PDF requires JavaScript activation from Acrobat, which is available only on the desktop version of the application.

Please share your feedback here: https://acrobat.uservoice.com/ to ensure it reaches the dev team for review and future implementation.

By the way, I've read a discussion somewhere where it was said that the solution to this problem would be to create a PDF portfolio. I've tried that, but it didn't work.
