mailto links in Acrobat iOS app not working as expected

Hello,

 

I've created a form in Acrobat Pro which uses a button with a "mailto" link to submit the form. I'm running into trouble with this form on iOS devices.

 

I've tested this on a few different iOS devices with the default mail app set to Outlook. When using the Acrobat app, the mailto link will always try to open using the native Mail app (even if it isn't installed). If I'm using another app (e.g. Office) and tap on a mailto link then Outlook will open. Is Acrobat just programmed to use the native Mail app only?

Hello,

I am having the same issue. Really need to have the option for using the Outlook app to send instead of just the iOS native email.

@Peter28349803i7ac This is designed behavior from Apple, and we do not have the possibility to change it unless Apple allows it.

 

So by default, and even if selected otherwise, the option would lead you to the default Apple Mail services.

    Hope you are doing well. I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues with Acrobat Reader Mobile unable to sync up with Outlook.

     

    Just so that we can check on our end as well, please share a few details with us:

    1. The iOS version you are using

    2. Is it specific to a particular form or with all the files.

    3. Is there any update available for Outlook on AppStore.

    4. Can you share the file with us over private message so that we can try to reproduce it on our end. [ To send a private message, you can click on my profile name-> the page that shows, click on the blue box that says send a message]

    Hello Souvik,

     

    Did you have a chance to test this on your end? I'm going to try creating a ticket with Adobe directly through my organisation's enterprise agreement and it would be useful to be able to reference this thread and your own findings.

    Hello Jonathan,

     

    We discussed this with our team and found out that the issue is a product limitation from Apple, which prevents the application from opening Outlook directly and re-directs to the default mail app.

     

    We are still checking on it and will try to implement this in future updates.

     

    In the meantime, I would suggest you also fill out the feature request form so that it reaches our product team, and they will be able to check on this and work better.
