Question

Mobile Acrobat Reader asked for a password when opening document with ''Document Open Password: No"

A tool generates pdfs with:

  • Security Method: Password Security
  • Document Open Password: No
  • Permissions Password: Yes

Pdfs can be opened correctly on laptop but on Android mobile phone, Acrobat Reader asks for a password to open them. And some others pdf reader tools are able to open it correctly.

Acrobat Reader is up to date, version 22.7.1

What is "the tool" that you used to create the PDF?

You posted to the orphaned Acrobat Reader Mobile (beta) forum, and it doesn't sound like you are using the beta version. Please confirm your version and we can move your post to the proper forum.

Can you show two screenshots from File > Properties:

  • Description tab
  • Security tab

In fact, where I work, we got a vendor program that uses fop library to generate pdf files.

It is an old version (0.95) and we use following option:
-noedit PDF file will be encrypted without edit content permission
-noannotations PDF file will be encrypted without edit annotation permission

These options are correctly handled by Acrobat Reader on desktop computers but not on mobile versions of Acrobat Reader

Attached are screenshots from a generated document

@Eric25910625yzco

I've moved your post from the orphaned Acrobat Reader Mobile (beta) forum to Acrobat Reader Mobile where you are more likely to get an answer.

Hi @Eric25910625yzco,

Hope you are doing well.

Acrobat Reader Mobile does not have the full functionality of the desktop version of the application due to certain limitations.

Secured documents in the mobile version are all treated alike, and if you have password security enabled for a document, it is very like to ask you for the password, even if just for viewing.

Also, the architecture of the PDF can make a difference in the viewing experience. Try converting the same document to a PDF/X or convenient form using Acrobat, and then try to view it once on Reader Mobile.
