As an Adobe emloyee marked there answer as the correct in another post, when was it was clearly pointed out that their answer doesn't work, I have reacreated another post for everyone to vent their frustration at the AI assistant button in the new Acrobat.

Link to the old post: Re: remove AI assistant button

.... and no, we don't want to change the UI back to the old one to remove it. We just want the setting in the options to turn it off to actualy work!

Correct answer Amal.

Hi there

I hope you're doing well, and thank you for reaching out to us.

To address your concern, please follow the steps below to disable the generative AI features in the Acrobat Mobile App:

  1. Update the App: Please ensure you're using the latest version of the Acrobat app by updating it through the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android).

  2. Reboot the Device: After updating, restart your device to ensure all changes are properly applied.

  3. Access Preferences in the Acrobat App:

    • Open the Acrobat app.
    • Tap on your profile icon, located at the top right of the screen.
    • From the drop-down menu, select Preferences.
  4. Disable Generative AI Features:

    • In the Preferences menu, locate the option for "Enable generative AI features in Acrobat."
    • Toggle off the switch to disable this feature.

So today I found the only solution that has worked, each time I opened Acrobat the preferences went back to the default which is to use AI... this was a massive waste of time and nothing I tried worked until I found this...

https://www.wordsbywes.ink/articles/tools/turning-off-adobe-acrobats-ai-assistant/

I used the solution below which immediately fixed my issue, thanks also go out to Mister Big Stuff - https://www.reddit.com/r/sysadmin/comments/1avpv2x/adobe_acrobat_generative_ai_how_to_permanently/ for the original post.

Turning AI Assistant Off in Windows Registry

If you want to keep Acrobat’s new look, you can turn off AI Assistant through Window’s registry. This instructions come from a post in r/sysadmin. I tried it this morning, and it worked.

From the Windows start menu, open regedit. Navigate the tree on the left side to get to this path:
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\DC\FeatureLockDown

Right click on FeatureLockDown and create a new DWORD key called bEnableGentech. The value will default to 0. That disables the AI Assistant. Restart Acrobat if it’s open.

The regedit workaround works perfectly.. thank you!!!

Please, the AI Assistant button partly covers the documents. I don't even *have* an option to get rid of it in the Peferences. I was in the process of paying a bill in our netbank, and I really had to work for being able to *see* the amount to be paid.

And besides, I have nothing to 'ask' from the document(s) anyway, so I absolutely would prefer getting rid of the photobombing annoyance of a purple button.

Has this been fixed yet, please? With AI disabled the annoying floating AI icon is still there and is in the way.

Which version of Windows do you have it installed on? There is a policy setting you can add to the registry that turns it off, but I only think it works in the pro and not home version.

Yup same thing here. I've already "disabled" the AI assistant, and yet the button still shows up. How hard is it to actually remove this button? I do not want a generative AI feature, if I did I'd use a different product. I just want to read my document.

Hi @dcope78 @Robert38337096vrtb,

Thanks for writing in!

The team is already in discussions, and this should be done in the upcoming releases.

I cannot commit the time, but this is already in the pipeline.

Hi @tony_72000

Hope you are doing well.

What happens when you try to disable the generative AI as described here https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/disable-generative-ai.html do you get any error message? If yes, please share the screenshot of the same for more clarity.

Also, collect the the Adobe CC logs https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/cc-log-collector.html , Procmon logs (Win Only) https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/Labs/acromonitor.html and share them via any cloud storage. Just upload the log file to the cloud and generate the link and share that link with us for further investigation.

Regards
Amal

I have the same problem.  I disenabled the generative AI in the preference, but I have no idea how to remove the AI Assistance box, button at the top right corner in Adobe Acrobat.    Please tell me how to completely remove it from view.

Cheers
