Text-to-speech function for Acrobat Reader / DC with option to omit reading footnotes

Hi everyone,

I am wondering if there will be a text to speech function on the mobile app version of Acrobat Reader for Android mobile phones anytime soon? I have reading disabilities and would appreciate audio functions that can help me get through reading research papers like an audio book.

Adobe has the read out loud function only on laptop/desktop versions but not on the mobile. Even with the former, it doesnt quite allow me to select reading just the main content of each page without repeating the same footnotes at the bottom of each page.

I have not really come across any app in the market that could omit the footnotes. Pocketbook gives me some mobility and accessibility now but it is like the current adobe laptop version on mobile.

Thank you.

Hello Liza,

Hope you are doing well. From the above description, I understand that you are looking for the text to speech on the mobile version of the application.

The feature to read out loud is available on the Acrobat Reader for mobile on the android version of the application. To use the feature, you will have to open the document-> click on the three dots on the top right-> then click the headphone icon to start the text to speech.

You can view the below link to view more about it: Accessibility — Acrobat for Android Help (adobe.com)

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Souvik.

Hello,

I understand that you want to use the read out loud feature on iphone. However, the feature is not directly available to use within the application. You need to enable the screen reader through the settings from your phone.
