Up until the recent update for iPad, I was able to print parts of documents even though they were designated as Read-Only. However, now I am unable to print anything from these documents. Originally the documents were created to be printable but not changeable, and somehow this designation has changed in the update. What can I do to be able to print them again, as they include exams I must print for my children?

Hi,
Sorry for the delay in response.
Are you still experiencing issues in printing a password-protected file?
If yes, please let us know what happens when you try to print a password-protected PDF? Do you get any error messages? If yes, please do share the screenshots.
Share the application and OS version with us. Also, let us know the exact workflow you follow to print the password-protected file. There is a recently updated Adobe Reader Mobile application in-app store. Please make sure you are on an updated version of the application.

1. Yes, I'm still experiencing the problem. The screenshots are below. The first is the error message, the second is the product I'm using.
2. The process I follow is the same with any document to print, I touch the three dots at the top of the right hand corner, scroll down, and choose print. When I choose print the red error message pops up at the bottom of the screen. Since the update, at the top of the bar after I select the three dots, it shows that the file is "read-only" and there's a lock icon. This did not appear before the update.
3. The mobile version for iOS 21.05.01 update you mention above does not show up in iPad app store yet, therefore I cannot update it as you suggest.
Thank you for your help,
A. Berry

Hi Ria,
This issue has yet to be resolved. I have tried to reach out to Adobe support but they say they cannot help because I am not a paid subscriber to one of your products! You mentioned an update 21.05.01, but that has not been offered in the app store. When will it be forthcoming, and will it resolve the issue?
Sincerely,
A. Berry

Hi there
Hope you are doing well and thanks for reaching out.
Is this an issue with a particular PDFs from the energy supplier? Try to print the other PDF file and see if that issue persists. Also share the PDF file in question so we can check it at our end.
Also share the version of the Acrobat Mobile app and the OS you are using? Tap on the profile > About Acrobat and try updating the app from the App/Play Store and reboot the device once.
You may also check the self help page https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/mobile-app-faq.html for future reference.

Hi All,
Hope you are doing well.
We don't have that feature for mobile applications at present. We cannot print password-protected pdf in Android/iOS devices. Thank you for highlighting this to us. It's in a future enhancement pipeline. You will get an official announcement as well as a notification when this will roll out.
You can use the following link to share your feedback/raise a new feature request to the product team directly: https://www.adobe.com/products/wishform.html
Thank you for your time and cooperation.

Hi Ria,
Thank you for looking into this, but honestly it is rather unacceptable. This "feature" existed before the update, which means that the mobile application had this function before the update. My files in question are not password protected, they've been re-categorized as "read only". This only happened after the update because I was able to print from them before.
Just to be clear, so there is no confusion about the issue: Before Update -- able to print; After Update -- unable to print. With all due respect, it seems rather unreasonable to now ask people to "raise a new feature request" for something that had already existed! It would be very kind, Ria, if you could convey this "wish" on behalf of myself and the other people who are now unable to print files that were previously printable, and whose children's education are suffering because assignments cannot be printed in a timely fashion. (Although, in all honesty, the children are probably happy with assignment delays!😉)
Please do find a way to elevate this issue up the chain to ensure that previous functionality can be restored as soon as possible.
Kind regards.

Hello Ria,
Good morning. I am experiencing the same issue. I've read through this thread so I have a more clear understanding although it is quite an inconvenience.
Nevertheless, I did have one question. Since the PDFs can't be printed on Android/IOS products, where can it be printed, because it is paid for?
Thank you,
Simone

I just downloaded the recent update for Adobe iPad and the problem still persists -- can't print "protected" read-ony files. It's been 4 months and at least 3 updates and the issue is still not resolved. I have filled in the "wish" form listed above to no avail. I just don't understand how the functionality could be there one minute and then gone the next in an update. With respect, why can't this issue be addressed? The school year has begun and once again my children's school assignments can't be printed. Please fix this!!🙏🙏

this issue has become incredibly annoying. not being able to print a file that has been purchased is unacceptable when it used to be no problem at all and printed freely. If yall need to go back to an old version of the app in order to give what has been taken then lets get with it. but saying its in "future works" is absolutely stupid since its an older feature that worked perfectly fine.

Hi Jessica,
There is a limitation in the print feature in the Acrobat Reader mobile app, it is not possible to print a password-protected PDF. However, you can use the free Acrobat Reader DC desktop application to print password-protected PDFs.
For more details: https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobat/android/en/workingwithpdf.html#print-pdfs
Let us know if that helps.
Thanks,
Harsh
