how to delete a signature

I put the signature in the wrong place, so now i want to delete it and put it in the right place.  The instructions don't tell me I can't delete, but they sure don't tell me how to delete.   Grrrrrr…..

Hey thanks, I appreciate the helpful suggestions.  I feel kinda dense on the one hand and resentful on the other that the pdf signature processing is so Not Simple.  I can easily just place an image of a signature on many a document in other software formats.  In addition to the mistaken placement that I began with, another problem I had (as Admin Ass'tnt y'know) was to apply two different signatures to page five of that document.  Adobe Signature won't let me be two people.  First I went back to the  unsigned document using Acrobat and I extracted p. 5, still unsigned.  Then I used Reader to sign, print name and date on p5 two times, two separate p.5's.  Today another pdf came my way, needs two signatures.  So today, from Acrobat I could Save As a Word doc and place the signatures the easy way and let Word save as pdf.  Downside to that is the Word doc loses formatting of the orig. Yak Yak. What I need to do is read the User's Guide.  I don't know what you mean by 'text-tagging'. On your 3. above, I gather you mean 'edit the signature...' box by using Acrobat? It was the signature itself I'd put in the wrong place. One would think the instructions could tell me 'once placed a signature cannot be removed on a given file' .  From your last paragraph, in Reader, right?  I don't see a Manage tab anywhere.  I don't see Library either.

Hi lolligag,

Thanks for the follow-up. I'm using my free Echosign account as an example but once I'd logged in, I would click where is says "Manage" (highlight in blue in the above image). This will take me into the files that I manage or otherwise own. From there, in the lower panel you can see where Library Templates is showing. If you've created either a widget or document, it should be listed here with the options to either send it or edit it.

Here is where I'm confused by your situation: When creating documents to be signed, what are you using to do this?

In my case, I use either notepad or Microsoft Word to build my document and then when I go to create a reusable document, I click on "Add Template to Library", and then once I've titled the document, I choose the file and then click on "Preview or Add Fields". This will load the document so that I can apply whatever fields I need. While in the editing phase (which, in this instance, would all be Drag and Drop fields), you can add fields where you need them but you also want to make sure that if you use a field more than once that each new field is renamed. To do this, double-click on the field in question and then click on the field description and type in what you want that field to be called. Also, in this field, you can assign the participant for each input into the document itself.

Echosign will not let anyone sign anything two times so you have to make sure when you assign the participant that you choose the correct stance in your document where you sign and where your client would sign. In looking at the options available in the "Select Participant" drop down, you will see Participant 1, Participant 2, Add a Participant, Anyone, and Prefill (Sender). If you have selected that you must sign before anyone else does, then Participant 1 is you.

There is more but I'll stop here so that I can get an idea of where you are with your document and figure out what you're using to get where you are stuck at. Once I know that, I should be able to really help you get this all figured out.

Hi lolligag,

Deleting the signature shouldn't be too difficult so long as you're not trying to delete something off an already signed form (which is a no-go). There are three ways to delete the signature in the creation process:

1. If you're using the Drag and Drop method, simply double-click on the field and then select "Delete Field" in the lower right corner of the box.

2. If you're using text tagging, you would have to manually edit the signature block out of the page.

3. If you created your form in Acrobat, you would have to edit the signature out of the Acrobat form template using that software editor.

In the first two cases, you should be able to get to the document by going into your Manage tab and clicking "edit" on the Library form you want to change. If there are any other more specific questions you may have, feel free to let me know and I'll do what I can to advise further.
