Issue with Certification Signature Validation in Acrobat Reader - Possible Bug?

Hi all,

I am encountering some unexpected behavior in Adobe Acrobat Reader and would like to confirm whether this might be a bug.

I have a single-page PDF with a certification signature, which has a DocMDP permission level of 2. This means that form fields can be filled out and new digital signatures can be added without invalidating the original certification signature.

However, when I add two additional digital signatures on top of the PDF, the Signature Panel in Adobe Acrobat says that the original certification signature is invalid.

Interestingly, when I open the same PDF in Foxit PDF Reader, the Signature Panel shows the original certification signature as valid, which is the expected behavior.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? Could this be a bug in Acrobat?

Below I am attaching two screenshots of each viewer with different saying.

Looking forward to any insights!

Hi Marvelous_dynamism3878,

Thank you for reaching out.

Please try validating the signature. The error appears when the signature is not added to the trusted list. Refer to the information provided in the following help document: https://adobe.ly/3FiStKa

Let us know if the issue still occurs.

Thanks,

Meenakshi

Hi Meenaksi,

Thanks for your quick response. Even after validating all signatures in the PDF, the certificate signature stays invalid.
Is there any other workaround?

Thanks,
Jihoon
