I am very frustrated. I have a title in adobe express that has a red background behind the text. How do I simply change the red background color ? I can edit and change every element but I can't seem to figure out how to change the background color for the title text.
If you add more text to that text box, does the red rectangle grow as well? If so, then check the "Shape" option at the bottom of the Text panel when that box is selected.
If that rectangle doesn't grow, select the rectangle via the layers list on the right and then change the fill color.
Hi @Pascal_Thong1230
You'll want to go to the effects section at the top and you'll see the shape option towards the bottom of the tab
Hope that helps,
Dave
Hey @Cindy5C41, Thank you for explaining this. I understand your concern about the feature being more straightforward without taking extra time to determine where the controls are.
Your feedback is valuable, and I’ll pass this along to the team as we continue working on making the Adobe Express experience smoother and intuitive.
I'd also suggest that you post your suggestion to our product team directly here: https://adobe.ly/4mujpXR

Adobe Express used to be so great, and now I hate it. I’ve spent hours just trying to change the background color on a text box. Here’s what I’ve done.
Why is this so frustrating? This should be so simple.

Hi @Cindy5C41,
We're sorry to hear about the difficulties. Did you try using the other suggested browsers (Safari, Microsoft Edge, and Google Chrome) or incognito mode to see if it makes a difference?
Also, try clearing the browser's cache and cookies, and restarting the browser and try again. For more information on how to clear cache and cookies check this link- https://adobe.ly/4a5ipUF and how to use incognito mode- https://adobe.ly/4a2UzZV
Let us know if that helps.
Regards,
Tarun

Thank you for your reply, however, it's not a problem with the browser or that clearing the cache will help. It's that things that should be simple, such as changing the background color on a text box, are difficult to accomplish. Once you click on an object, it shouldn't be a scavenger hunt to find where to change the properties of that object.

Additionally, the steps mentioned by @David__B is the current workflow available in the app to add background to the text or the text box. The option selected by you (shown in the shared screenshot) highlights the text background; if you choose the option adjacent to that option, it'll cover the text box.
Hope this helps!
Best!
