Question

Auto crop IOS vs android

Hi, first I want to say that this is by far the best scanning app available. I like it very much.

I recently moved from android to iOS/iPhone. My question is, if there is a auto crop available which works similar to android. On android, you were able to turn off the automatic scan feature, while maintaining a very good auto crop.

On iOS it seems, that when you turn the automatic scan off, that the scans are also not cropped automatically. So I can only have either the full automatic scan and crop, or manual. If I choose manual  I have to adjust the crop manually for each page. In the manual mode, the pages usually show a lot of circumferential around the scanned page. For example the table underneath. That didn't happen on android. It somehow adjusted the crop, even though it didn't automatically scan each page.

Happy to receive any hints. Hope I explained it well enough.

Hi @Nguyễn34343812odw4,

Hope you are doing well. Thank you for writing in!

Once you turn off smart-capture, the smart crop gets disabled too.

I suggest clicking the pictures in one go, and then on the modification page, click on Crop-> select the option of "Auto-Crop."

I understand that this could be a lengthy process, but let me share the feedback with the dev team to investigate this with the same workflow on the Android and iOS versions and try to get this implemented in future releases.

@Nguyễn34343812odw4 The team looked into it.

Here is the response: "in order to keep automatic crop on for manual scan, he needs to set on "Let me adjust borders after each scan" in Settings/Preferences."

Please try and let us know if this works for you.

Hello Boris,

Hope you are doing well. As per the above description, I understand that you want to know about the auto crop for iOS.

Generally, when you disable auto-capture, the feature for auto crop still works in the background the same way as Android.

From here, if you click on continue, you will get just the part that is shown within the blue boundaries.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,

Souvik.

Hi, I can't make it work. Please refer to attached screenshots in the PDF.

Page 1 - I want to keep this automatic function off. However, when I now take several scans of several pages, I have to go through the next steps.

Page 2 - here you'll see that each individual page has the auto crop function. I would have to go through every page I scanned and click this button.

Page 3 to 5 show that indeed this auto crop function works well. However, I want to avoid to have to go through each individual page and click that function.  On android the auto crop of each individual page somehow is always turned on, even though you have turned off the automatic scan function of page 1.

Hi, yes it is always the same regardless of what I scan. So also on document. I'm using Adobe Scan on iPhone. Version is 22.05.24. My iPhone has 15.5

Please try and update the application to the latest version and check if it works better for you now,
