Difficult cropping with new layout?

I like the new one page layout but I find it more difficult to crop many docs now.  On the modify scan/edit screen, many receipt images become so small and narrow it is hard to tell where to crop and it is particularly hard to grab the whole line crop bar on the narrow side of a receipt. It always seems to grab the corners instead so then you have to do it twice, at each corner.

The icons immediately below the image, auto detect or no crop, could go somewhere else in the screen and that would help. I'm using iPhone SE.
