AE to 25.01 - Error/crash related to rendering (and upgraded projects?)

I have the exact same issue, I can't believe this hasn't been fixed yet!

• Issue - After effects crashing when doing nearly anything in the program, reinstalled and restarted countless times.
• Adobe After Effects 25.0.1
• Apple M2 Max
• Steps to reproduce - Open a project, and try to do some of the most basic things in after effects, such as changing what comp you're in or adding a text layer 
• Expected result - It should allow you to jump from comp to comp, add text, begin animating, no problem
• Actual result - The entire program freezes and you're waiting so long that you waste so much time. & The viewport is frozen, you can't view anymore of the comp, it's just stuck on one frame. I'm literally working with a project and it has two layers and it's crashing...

 Unfortunately, John has been out sick. Fingers crossed he will be feeling better soon. If you could send what you sent to John on to me, I would be happy to look at it. Oherwise, we will look it over when he is back. 

In the meantime, we will update this thread as we investigate.

Anyway, this is a little bit unprofessional when company pay for my software (I pay also for this for my home PC), I'm keeping software update, and after that I have to spend few days for looking for a solution how to run my project again and give it to customer. This can happen when I'm agree to used a beta version of the software, not a official one.

"It sounds like your issue is specifically with an old project? Is that the only scenario where you encounter this freeze or are you experiencing additional issues? If it is the singular issue, lets move your comments to their own thread and if possible, could you send a dm to myself with a link to your project if possible? Does the application freeze as you are opening the old projects or after they are open, and you perform some actions? From the sounds of it, the upgrade to 25.0.1 corrupted the file (your response on November 1st seems to allude to this). Does the original project still open in 24.x.x?"

All the information I was write before in previouse posts, but again... The problem looks like is related to old project reopen in new version of AE. I don't know exaclty if it's just a project file or AE itself, becouse project what I've got is quite huge and reproduce something similar will be very complicated and take a lot of time (what I don't have). I try open this project in old version of AE, but it looks like file is corrupted and happen the same as in new version. What I did for now is everything posted here in this thread like cleaning cache, reinstall CC and AE, etc. Nothing help. Also I try to run it without plugin and same story (for the project I'm using Particular). Whatever I do always crash. I can't send you file becouse of company policy, but when AE freeze I realize it's consuming all of the RAM and use mostly 95% of GPU. For me it's a memory leak, but I can be wrong. Most of the time when AE freeze all the UI shrink to the left side of the screen (I've got a 4k screen). I'm also send lot of reports about that error (mostly all of the time when freeze) and I'm giving to @JohnColombo17100380 email address from which reports come from. Let me know if you need more info!

Quite honestly... no, they don't that's the entire issue. They don't need to have QC. You've already paid for it, and will continue to pay, and now that you have projects in it you stand to lose work if you leave. So- no, their update is fine because it's making them money, and if it isn't, they can just reduce dev budget in turn. After all, the only plan that makes any financial sense is the all apps plan...

And there's no VFX/CGI plan for a reason, y'know.

Is it specific projects or types of projects (upgraded or new in 25.x.x) that you are unable to save or send to AME, or is it any and all?

For AME, have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling AME and restarting your system after install? Depending on if you haven't restarted since doing the install of all the new applications, the connector application (between AE/AME/PPro) can be unaware of all apps and not be able to launch them.

Would it be possible to get a copy of the non upgraded project and the updgraded project? If so, you could upload to a file host of your choice and dm me the link if you would like it to not be public. 

For the items you were importing from other projects - were the ones you were pulling from upgraded as well?

The same for anyone else experiencing the upgrade scenario - if you had projects you were willing to upload and dm me their locations, I can attach them to a ticket on our side so our QE can attempt to get a reproduction on our side. i.e. @Pawel376750718aja, @CitizenBB1975

Same here I'm in Mac Apple M1 Pro, OS Sequioa 15.1 when I try save it crashes , when i try to send to media encoder Version 25 nothing happens ! Cmon adobe , u need to do better !!!!!
