My black background is always an image

Heyo, so the issue I have that keeps popping up is each time I go to make a new project in After Effects an image keeps popping up as the background no matter how many times I try to change the color of the background. It wouldn't be an issue, if it didn't also show up in rendering. Making me have to add a black or colored shape to hide it. 
I have closed the project quite a few times, but it still persists.

I wanted to know if anyone else has encountered this weird bug, and how they got past it? Or if I have to uninstall and reinstall after effects.
