Time tracking software not reading Adobe After Effects window

Creating a new ticket for this issue:
Started a dialogue with @JohnColombo17100380 about how the 24.0 After Effects no longer read as a window by time tracking software like Timely. I've emailed Timely about the issue and they have confirmed it's a bug on the Adobe side. Hoping this issue can be revolved soon.

Below I've included screenshots of how Timely read After Effects before this update (showing full file name and file path) and after (only displaying "After Effects" and no further detail).

Previous post about Timely + After Effects Bug

Thanks,
Nick

Hi @rainemegan,

Unfortunately, I don’t have an update on this issue. I’ve also confirmed it’s still occurring in the latest versions of AE and Premiere. I’ll follow up internally and try to get additional attention on it.

Thank you for your patience,

Hello, are there any updates about this? @JohnColombo17100380

It is incredibly frustrating to no longer be able to see the file name whilst using Timely and their Memory program. Many of us are very busy and rely on Memory to track our time so that we can go back later and assign our time to our projects later that day or week. Now that I can’t see the file name, it is very difficult to assign my time at a later date, whilst working across multiple files daily.

When submitting timesheets to clients, it is now having to be based on a trust basis that the time I have allocated was definitely against their work, as I can no longer show the document title.

I have reached out to Timely and their response is below.

Thank you for reaching out about this issue with Adobe InDesign file names showing as MainWindow in your timeline.

I completely understand how frustrating this is, especially when you previously relied on seeing the file names to assign your time accurately to projects.

Unfortunately, this issue is caused by changes Adobe made on their side that affect how window titles like file names are reported to time tracking applications. This means Memory is currently unable to capture the specific document names from Adobe InDesign and several other Adobe applications.

Our development team is aware of this issue and is actively monitoring it. Adobe has an open bug report about this problem, and we strongly encourage you to add your feedback there to help push for a resolution from Adobe. The more users who report this issue, the more likely Adobe is to prioritize fixing it.
You can comment on the Adobe community thread here: https://community.adobe.com/t5/after-effects-bugs/time-tracking-software-not-reading-adobe-after-effects-window/idi-p/14666233

In the meantime, Memory will still capture the time you spend in Adobe InDesign along with the app name, but unfortunately not the specific file names. You may need to manually note which files you worked on or rely on other context clues from your timeline to help assign time to the correct projects.

I know this is not the ideal solution, and I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. We are continuing to explore options and workarounds on our end as well. Please let me know if you have any other questions or if there is anything else I can help you with.

Best regards,
Aline from Timely Support

I have recently been trying out Timely, and I can confirm that it's also happening with Adobe Illustrator. Every project is just listed as "Main Window". However, I've been simultaneously trying out another time tracking app, and the file name info is listed correctly. So, I'm not sure if it's 100% an Adobe issue.

Would love an update here! This paricular feature is very important to my workflow within the adobe suite and invoicing (and to various accessibilty apps, from what I understand!). I originally flagged this issue with Timely in Jan 2023 so it has been a problem since then. Please prioritize. Thank you!

I would also like to know if there are any updates to this. I often switch between many Premiere (2023) projects for different clients throughout the day and not tracking the actual project makes it very difficult for invoicing. This has been happening for a while now.
