Original Message:

Same issue here, this never worked In my experience. This has been broken for AGES Adobe... FIX IT.

Just comes down to really bad code quality / poor software verification testing.

See below - Now that the Animate tool has returned to maintenance mode and wont be discontinuted. This should be covered under the ‘Apply security updates and fix existing bugs in Animate (In this case the ADOBE plugin for transferring files bewteen An > Ae)

Back to the issue - FLA Import to AE
(I’m doing Adobe’s job here...)

@JohnColombo17100380 After digging through the issue I’ve discovered the issue and how to fix it:

It looks like After Effects 2025 has shipped with a plugin expecting and looking for Animate 2025, which doesn't exist OR NEVER SHIPPED  - Very interesting!

After examining the After Effects 2025 Animate Importer plugin I found this issue:

1. AE Uses Vulcan IPC to communicate with Adobe Animate

2. It calls `GetAppVersion()` to check the running Animate application version

3. Expects to find version 25.x (Animate 2025) - (Adobe Animate 2025? WHAT?)

4. Finds version 24.x (Animate 2024)

5. Version mismatch → IPC connection rejected → Import fails

**This is clearly an Adobe bug**
So to recap - After Effects 2025 has shipped with a plugin expecting a 2025 version of Animate that at this moment doesn't exist.

You’re welcome ADOBE. Please fix this issue.

Well well well, looks like Adobe animate is not being retired immediately after all - It’s put into maintenance after a huge outcry from the user community - and a large drop in Adobe share price.
There is no doubt this product is being sunsetted, which is wrong. Clearly their app and overall customer strategy is flawed.

Well based on this news Adobe management, they’ve clearly got no clue what they are doing. There’s no decent vector animation alternative in the suite of Adobe products but they will discontinue Animate anyway. After effects is ok, but not very good at doing what Animate could do.

MOHO it is.

Well it appears the thread has been deleted… i can no longer get to the correct thread for this. There are so many new thread links etc its almost impossible to work out whats happening.

Is this by design to obfuscate the issue?

Well, I understand now why they never bothered to fix this. The fact that the recent email about the discontinuation of Animate tells us to simply export all our FLA files before they are unsupported while this bug has been a problem for years is beyond the pale.

If Adobe are too slow to respond and fix this issue, might have to move our production to Moho which is actively maintained and supported. Not sure why we are paying money for Adobe software with ZERO support and updates to address this long standing issue.

Agree, need to know what is going on here.
We have projects with workflows which are relying on this feature too.

Adobe need to throw some resources on this urgently.
