After Effects can't continue: An unexpected error has occurred and After Effects will now shutdown

I'll be able to use After Effects as usual for 5-20 minutes before it freezes for two and then shuts down my whole MacBook for 10 minutes. Once I've got it on again, I get this error message from my MacBook and another from After Effects.

I've tried creating new projects (so it's not a corrupted file), uninstalling and reinstalling the application, and clearing the cache, but still, nothing has fixed this. Both my MacBook and After Effects are fully updated. I've been able to use After Effects fine before, so I have no idea what has caused this.

Did the suggestion above help?

Feel free to reach out. Moving this thread from Bugs to Discussions for now.

The AE error dialog is caused by something failing during startup of AE. I expect it may be something becoming corrupted due to the crash.

Try following the steps listed here: https://community.adobe.com/t5/after-effects-bugs/after-effects-23-6-and-24-0-not-starting-on-macos-14-sonoma/idi-p/14139194

See if that resolves the issue for you.
