After effects no mask to select

I want to create a simple animation to move text along a path used After Effects CC. Made a background layer, then a text layer, then I draw my path or shape with the text layer selected. But when I go to text > path options there is no option to choose the mask I have created. Anyone know how to fix this or if there is another way to complete this animation. Thanks in advance.

You have both the switches and modes columns hidden. Only the Parent/Link column is showing. Ust the first two icons at the bottom left corner of the Timeline to turn on both switches and modes columns, select the layer, press 'uu' to reveal all modified properties, and you should see enough to be able to spin down the Mask properties in the timeline.
