Hello After Effects Community,

I have been having occasional Windows Blue Screen of Deaths (BSOD) when running After Effects. I am on Version 24.1.0 (Build 78). My Windows info is the following...

Windows 11 Pro

Processor 13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-13900K 3.00 GHz
Installed RAM 32.0 GB (31.7 GB usable)

My system administrator pulled the log when the BSOD occured and narrowed it down to an issue with After Effects. Can anyone make sense of this or at least help point us in the correct direction? Here is the log below:

ATTEMPTED_EXECUTE_OF_NOEXECUTE_MEMORY (fc)

An attempt was made to execute non-executable memory.  The guilty driver

is on the stack trace (and is typically the current instruction pointer).

When possible, the guilty driver's name is printed on

the BugCheck screen and saved in KiBugCheckDriver.

Arguments:

Arg1: ffffc80e8b5cbe40, Virtual address for the attempted execute.

Arg2: 8a0000080ac009e3, PTE contents.

Hi Brandon, sorry to hear about the crash.

What are your system specifications? In most cases, an outdated GPU driver causes such issues. Let us know if updating the driver helps. If your GPU driver is already updated, try doing a clean install.

Thanks,

Nishu

Hi nishu_kush. Thank you for your reply. I have two drivers. One is Intel(R) UHD Graphics 770 - Driver Version 31.0.101.4502. The other is NVIDIA RTX A4000 - Driver Version 31.0.15.3799.

We have already done a clean install. In fact, we even went a step further and completely wiped and rebuilt the computer.

Thanks for the details. What's the release date of the driver that it shows? Looks like there's an updated version available. Check out here: https://www.nvidia.com/Download/driverResults.aspx/218641/en-us/

Let us know if it helps.

Thanks,

Nishu
