Dependencies - Collecting Files for Selected Comps with Reduce Project tends to collect extra comps

Hello,

recently I had to split a project of 20 comps into 20 smaller reduced projects.

So for every comp, I selected the desired comp (in the project panel), went in "File", "Dependencies", "Collect Files" then I ticked "Selected Comps" and "Reduce Project".

The issue I encountered is that every time I used the "Collect Files" feature, an additional composition would appear in the resulting file. This extra composition, along with all its associated footage, was not selected prior to initiating the collection process.

Opening them up afterward and removing the extra composition and footage was quite bothersome. I attempted to resolve the issue by closing and reopening After Effects, hoping it would rectify the problem, but unfortunately, the same issue persisted. It seems to be a bug without a doubt.

That's not ideal. Are you able to reproduce it in a new project? If so, can you share the project with us for testing? If not, a screen recording demonstrating the issue would help.

I'll move your post to the Discussions board while we await your information.

Thanks,

Nishu

No relation. Most of the time, it was just 2 video layers independent from the extra sequence.

And it had no relation, no solids, no anything that might have been used in the targeted reduced comp?

The extra comp existed in the original project. It was always the same being extra collected.

Was the "exta comp" a comp that existed in the original project? In that Collect Files was picking up a comp that it shouldn't have been? Or was it a completely new, unexpected, not-pre-existing comp?
