Dolly Towards Cursor Tool not working in Custom View

Dear Support, dear Community,

when I'm trying to use the 'Dolly Towards Cursor Tool' in Custom View nothing happens. Strangely enough in front-view it does work.

I've made a video of this stuff for you to understand the problem better.

Am I the problem or is After Effects? 😮

Hi Matthias,

That's not ideal.

Do you have a camera in the Composition? If so, what's happens if you select Active Camera from the drop-down and try to use the tool? Also, does it happen in any other project as well?

If it occurs in all the projects, try resetting the preferences of After Effects. Here's how: https://community.adobe.com/t5/after-effects/faq-how-to-reset-trash-preferences-in-after-effects/td-p/10634342

Let us know if it helps.

Thanks,

Nishu

If you have a camera in the timeline and you are in anything other than the Active Camera view, and you are using the camera tool, nothing will change in the other views. The camera tools should work in all custom views if you have no layer selected. Front, Top, Right, Left, Bottom, and Back will not change with the Orbit tool but the other two tools should work just fine. All camera tools should change any of the custom views if no layer or camera is selected.

Hi Nishu,

Thank you so much for the quick response!

Actually, it works with cameras. So I guess you've named a good workaround by just adding another camera for navigation - thank you so much!

The problem does not occur in all projects. Actually, at first everything is okay, but after some time it has occured in multiple instances...

I hope the ticket was helpful for you - you helped me a great deal for sure.

Thanks,

Matthias
