Hello, I have been trying to use After Effect's brush tool to do frame by frame animation on top of my video. However, even after setting the brush mode to single frame, the drawing lasts for 3 frames. I even tried setting it to a custom duration of 1 frame and it still lasts for 3 frames before disappearing. I have no clue what could be wrong, I've looked at so many tutorials and all they did was set the brush mode to single frame and it worked properly. Any ideas on what could be happening? Thanks

mmm I'm replying late i hope you got the ans... but i found the solution. you just neet to set your workspace to paint then go to paint settings and set duration to single frams and that's it.

Set the workspace to Paint, adjust the settings to Single Frame, draw a couple of strokes, select the layer, press the U key twice to reveal all modified properties, zoom in to the timeline to see the individual frames, then drag the in and out points of the brush strokes to change their duration. As long as the frame rate of the layer matches the frame rate of the comp you should be able to just paint on a single frame. That is not usually the most efficient way to work, but there are no reported bugs in the Paint system.
