Freeze/crash while using Glow effect

I have a problem with AAE. From my observation AAE freeze/crash my whole system when I'm using Glow effect (It may occur with other effects but I didn't check it). After that, I cannot change brightness on my laptop screen (until reboot) and I must restart AAE to bring back preview because it's just white (see attachment).

It all happens even with a fresh project. Back when I was working on Windows 10 it didn't happen at all even when the project was complex.

Right now I don't want to downgrade to Windows 10 - I hope there is a way fix to that.

RTX 2060 - Latest drivers.
Windows 11
AAE v. 22.6

Correct answer Heliocentryzm

I figure out that the Glow Effect is not causing a problem. After testing, AAE was crashing even without using any effect. The solution is to turn off HAGS (Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling) and then everything works perfectly fine. Thank you for your time

Hi Heliocentryzm,

Sorry for your issue.

Is it the native Glow effect that comes with After Effects or a third-party plug-in? Try updating the GPU driver. Also, let us know what happens if switch to Mercury Software only as suggested by the expert.

We're here to help.

Thanks,

Nishu

Try to deactivate the GPU acceleration for effects in After Effects to test if the glow effect can run. Go to File > Project Settings. Under the Video Rendering and effects tab select Mercury Software only.
