Bug Report: After Effects (and Possibly Premiere Pro) - Freeze Issue When Creating a New Folder in Render Queue

Issue Description: I've encountered a persistent issue with After Effects on my PC (and potentially with Premiere Pro as well) for the past few years. The problem occurs during the rendering process when I'm in the Render Queue.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Open After Effects and add a project to the Render Queue.
  2. In the Render Queue, select the option to choose where to save the rendered file.
  3. In the file navigation dialogue box, attempt to create a new subfolder by right-clicking and selecting "Create New Folder."
  4. At this point, After Effects freezes and becomes unresponsive.

Expected Behavior: The software should allow the creation of a new folder without freezing, enabling me to select the folder and proceed with the rendering process.

Actual Behavior: After Effects freezes immediately after attempting to create a new folder, and it remains unresponsive, requiring a force quit.

Windows 11 Home  - 23H2  - 22631.4037

Thanks for creating the detailed post.

It could be a user account permissions-related issue. Try running After Effects as admin (right-click the After Effects icon and select Run as administrator). If that doesn't help, try changing the permissions as suggested in the following article: https://adobe.ly/3YZNUfx

Let us know if that helps. Moving this thread from Bugs to Discussions for troubleshooting.

Thanks,
Nishu
