Hi forum.

Is there a way to export a text layer from AE into PS? I happen to play around with the tracking and kerning of a font, and need to get it into PS to do additional work. I treid to do the same tracking and kerning in PS, But I cant get it correct. So the only way to fix it is, if I can export the text into PS.

Thank you.

You can save a rasterized PSD using Save Frame as Layers from the menu, but that's as far as it goes. There is no way to get editable text this way since AE uses a different flavor of the Adobe Font Engine compared to PS. Can't really see the problem, TBH. PS' version is much more advanced and should easily be able to re-create anything you can do in AE.

This would be a great feature for many workflows. Some integrated campaigns will design in After Effects, to save production time for animation, but may later need to distribute static assets for digital purposes. These almost always have to have text resized, edited etc. due to different comp sizes. It would be incredibly helpful to bridge this with code somehow, so that PSDs could be delivered with accurate text layers.

I will admit I built a tool when I was just learning Extendscript which exported a serialized JSON from AE and imported that back into Ps, much like Overlord, but it was poorly designed and inconsistent. Someone with more skills than I could surely do a better job! Still, I wish interoperability of this type were built into Adobe products.

This is a feature we need constantly in production. @Mylenium it's just not practical to recreate all our text with pixel accuracy at any kind of scale. This has been an issue for as long as I can remember!
