Question

Moving animated mask over multiple keyframes independent of layer

I created an animated mask on a background layer but the layer is larger than the canvas. There are a lot of key frames because the mask is moving with a lot of pieces. The issue is when I copy the mask to a new layer it moves in the frame due to new layer size differences. I was thinking I could just highlight all the key frames and move the mask to match, but it seems you can only move one keyframe at a time. Is there a way to move all the key frames at once on the mask layer? It's important to note I don't want to move the layer with the mask. Thank you.

pre compose the background layer and put the mask onto there. the pre composed layer will be set to comp size.

Hello,

So I created the background layer as a pre comp at the size of the composition. I'm still not able to move the mask around the comp unless I do it 1 keyframe at a time. Is there any way to move a mask independant of a layer over multiple key frames? Essentially free moving an entire masks keyframes independant of the layer it's on. Thanks.

No, that's not possible. Masks aren't independent entities, they are sub-properties of the layer. In your case directly masking the layer is simply an inefficient workflow, anyway. Apply the mask to a solid on top and assign the solid as a track matte for your shape layer.
