Need help turning synthesia piano notes into gradient color while using saber

Hi, I'm working with Synthesia piano footage, I extracted the background to black, auto traced then applied saber to masks so that the piano notes are outlined with Saber, I now I want the saber to have a gradient ramp effect. But it doesn't seem to work, I tried putting gradient between the extract and auto trace to make the notes gradient but then saber turns them to the color selected in saber. I also tried applying the gradient after saber but it doesn't work either and I also tried doing that with auto trace on a new layer and on the same layer.

Sounds like you need a duplicate of the saber layer with only a gradient ramp and a blend mode. You would use the layer with the masks or a copy of that layer as a track matte for the gradient ramp.

Without a screenshot of how you have set things up it's pretty hard and a sample of the look you want to achieve it's pretty hard to be specific. Maybe something like this:

If I knew what your comp looked like I could help a lot more.
