Need Tips On How to Use Repeater

Hello, I am very new here on the forums and I am just recently gotten back into After Effects. I'm trying to make use of the repeater tool by rotating the squares into a diamond shape like this

But whenever I attempt to rotate the object it follows along like this

What should I do?

No, you are doing it the wrong way.

You are applying the repeater first and then you rotate the layer.

What I did was to rotate the rectangle first and then apply the repeater.

The order is important.

Try to rotate the rectangle only not the whole layer.
