Number keys making weird noise if 3D navigaion is UNCHECKED

I do not want an error noise when I press the number keys when I have the 3c camera navigation unchecked. I do not use 123456 keys for navigation.

Latest version of AE has started making a distorted error noise presumably to tell me that I am not using them as navigation. No 3d layers, classic or advanced 3d renderer. don't currently have other sound IO devices to check if it other hardware specific. This is new behaviour, unless I have not touched my numbetr keys in a few years

Thank you for responding.

If you are unfamiliar with the After Effects, Got to Edit/Preferences and in the  3D section, the first checkbox is:"Use 1/2/3 for navigation... "

I have this turned off .

This means that when I press my 1,2 or 3 keays, I am getting an unecessary alert sound, even in

Is there a way to disable this?

Got it! Thanks for explaining.

I am also getting the system sound on my end. Seems like it's happening because no keyboard shortcut is assigned to that key. It also happens with other keys that don't have a keyboard shortcut assigned. For example, F5 to F8. I've tested this in previous versions as well and it works the same. After Effects doesn't have a setting to disable that sound. If you really want to disable it, you can assign a keyboard shortcut to the keys.

Hope it helps.

Thanks,
Nishu

Hi tristansummers,

Thanks for writing in. What do you mean by 3D navigation? Do you mind sharing the steps on how to uncheck it? Are you on macOS or Windows?

Let me know. Moving this thread from Bugs to Discussions for troubleshooting.

Thanks,
Nishu

Number keys

123

3d navigation

Of the camera, pan zoom rotate

I'm sure you could have worked that out.

I  apologise, I thought I gave you the system spec.

I'm not running Mac OS on a threadripper!

Thanks for getting for. Sorry, I couldn't understand your workflow. If possible, can you share a screen recording of the issue so that I can understand the issue better?

Let me know.

Thanks,
Nishu
