"Replace with after effects composition" option not working correctly- black screen

When ever i use this option from premiere pro to create a dynamic link between after effects, It gives me a black screen. There are no clips in after effects, just an empty sequence, and the same clip in premiere pro is pink on the timeline and that too becomes a black screen. I've searched everywhere, and apparently alot of people have been having this problem, even since 2011. I really need to use these two programs together. When I used this option on my pc it worked fine. Infact, my pc specs are horrible and thats why I got a macbook air to edit. Sadly, it doesn't work correctly on this device for me. I really need help, and no, I don't have caplocks on by accident.
