Random Custom Particle in CC Particle World

Working in After Effects CC 2017

I have figured out how to make a custom particle in CC Particle world by choosing Textured QuadPolygon as "Particle Type" then choosing the texture layer.

I've read in older posts that I should also be able to create a comp with multiple one frame images and select that as the texture layer. But when I do that the particles last two frames and then no particles. If I select one of the particles as a png it works fine.

Can CC Particle World no longer have more than one custom particle or is there still a way to do this?

Texture time was set to current. When set to "Birth"it now works.

    Emission stops after a while.

    I had the same issue.

Make sure your comp being used for the random particles is the same duration as the comp with particle effect.

I created a comp with 5 differently colored stars. One per frame, for 5 frames. Then I precomposed them and duplicated them a bunch of times, sliding them to the right until the timeline was completely filled with my repeating pre-comp.

Now I get all the variations of my stars spewing "randomly" for the duration of my clip.

    Hope this helps!
