Rectangle looks weird and pixelated, text is invisible

Hi,

When I make a new project and new composition and I than draw a rectangle or a circle, it looks very weird: It has very broad white lines, with a blue line in the middle of the lines. The circle is the same, but has large pixels. If I try to write a text with the text tool, the text doesn't become visible at all, I can't give it a color, can"t magnifie it, can"t do anything with it.

I would be very grateful if someone could point me in the right direction, I probably inadvertently changed a setting or something, but haven't a clou......

Thanks very much in advance

Can you post some screenshots of what you're seeing?

Are you usine the shape drawing tools?

If yes, check the fill And stroke

Concerning  text, Does that happen for the very first time? is your graphic card driver up to date?

are you on the most recenet update of after effects?

Thank you very much for the reply. I appreciate that! Just found out that the resolution box was on automatic. When I put it on full resolution, it doesn't look so weird anymore, though still a bit pixelated. I hope after rendering the final output, the image will look crisp.

The text-problem is still a bit  of a mystery to me. When I draw a text-border, and type a text, it's not visible at all (can't change color, font-size or whatever, because the typing just isn't visible) . After repeating this a few times, it does becomes visible,  so I still don't know what the problem was, but I somehow found a way to get round it.....

Sorry, being a beginner still, probably doing something wrong here. After effects is a wonderful program, but I come across so many mysterious things and many things don't function the same way as when somebody explains it on you tube for example. It's taking forever that way unfortunately.

    Thanks again!
