Shape Stacking in 3D

I'm looking to have a "stack" of flat shapes that are the same size, that may or may contain images/videos stacked up on top of eachother and then "explode" out horizontally or vertically and then stack up again. This would repeat over and over featuring a different card in the deck. Any thoughts on how to go about doing this?

I've attached a video example of what I'm looking to do.

    Animate it manually, use position and scale keyframes, you may use align distribute to get even spacing between the cards.
    Don't finnes the timing at the beginnig, just layout the cards over time, and after you are happy with it, apply ease and move the keys to retime the animation.
