Trying to recreate image transitions in Bob Ross intro

Hello!

I'm trying to make a parody of Bob Ross's intro for a school project and I'm really interested in the way his picture flies out from his brush that is very reminiscent of old picture transitions from the 90s.

I haven't been able to find anything on how to recreate this transition where it includes the picture scaling up in size, flying out in a curve, and even having a particle effect trailing behind it.

If anyone could let me in on the secret, or pointing me to some resources/tutorials, that would be greatly appreciated

for the movement: you will need to create two position keyframes and change the motion path handle to a curve using the bezier handles

use also 2 scale keyframes so that the shape will be small at first and big at the end:

for the particles you can use a solid layer underneath with CC Particle Systems II. I have attached a link at the end with the project. you will have to set the settings to the ones you see fit. if you press UU on the particles layer in the project you will see all the modifications I have made to the default parameters

to make the particles move with the layer I have linked the producer position of the effect to the position of the layer. you can use the link and parent column to do that, just use the pickwhip to link both paremeters from the effect to the position of the layer.

for the final dissolve effect I used the block dissolve effect:

if all of this is too difficult, I suggest you start at the Adobe tutorial page for after effects and learn more about keyframes, motion path, effects so you won't get lost.
